  • Hi Cawanda,

According to your photos you look wonderful. Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease so it makes sense that if we are unhealthy the disease is given the opportunity to take hold. I think I will take steps to drastically alter my diet to be in the best health possible and just see what happens.

  • I've seen some repigmenting since losing weight.  I was told by a Naturopathic doctor it is due to releasing toxins stored in my fat.  With vitiligo there is something going internally.  I think it is important to be healthy and eat right.  I feel good and I'm more confident.

  • Hi Cawanda,

Thanyou for your kind welcome to this forum. I have been rather shy and withdrawn about my own vitiligo but it is very reassuring to have others to discuss issues with. I am particularly interested in your weight loss and its effect on your vitiligo. I have been thinking a lot lately about what role general health and well being takes in the progression of vitiligo. I read a book by Lee Thomas some time ago and have just pulled it out to read again. He talks about this topic in his book and when I first read it I didn't pay much attention to it. However, i have been in a very unhealthy work situation over the past few months and getting very little sleep/rest as well as a deterioration in the food I eat and much less regular exercise. I have seen my vitiligo and the dissapearance of my pigment speed up with an alarming rate. I would be really interested to know how you came to the conclusion that health and diet had an effect and what changes you have seen since your weight loss journey began. I will wait it great hope for your reply. Debbie

  • With the weight loss I'm healing internally.  I have hair on my arms and seeing small pigmentation reappearing.
