  • I am not on very often but Welcome.   All the support I have had here has helped me so much.  My daughter is 8 and was diagnosed with vit in preschool but they had suspected it even years before that.  Also we live near the Maineville area so if you ever need to talk or support let me know.

  • Hi Amy, welcome to you & Celeste to the Creative& Grate

    ful Group.

  • I've never done any treatments.  So I can't offer any advice.  Hope all is well.

  • HELLO AND WELCOME TO VITILIGO FRIENDS!!

  • Hey Amy !!!!! I remember my mum once said - if she could - she would gladly take my vitiligo and put it in her own body !!! I can not remember mum getting upset over my vit though. Of course she took me from doctor to doctor when I was small. Even now - she wants to come - but I have told her no! If your daughter is worried about her vit - comfort her and give her strength. But if she is not worried - then just help her with her medicine and not show you are worried. Good weekend !!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • Hey Amy !!!! Good to hear your daughter is not bothered about her vitiligo !!!! Try not to show her that you are very worried. The steroid cream should work for her !!!! I have heard how others got their insurance to pay for their creams !!!! You had no luck? Quarter size patches - you can say small !!!! :)

  • We live in Charleston,SC, about 10 minutes from the beach. We love it here!!!!
  • Oh yeah, and if one more person told me it could be worse, he could have cancer, etc, I would have screamed!!! You don't understand unless you have it yourself, or your precious child has it! This has the potential to be a psychologically devastating disease that can have major effects on their lives depending on the amount of coverage they get! OK...off of my soap box! :)
  • We found Austin's at the end of second grade once he started to tan. Same thing...had no idea how long they had been there since he bathes himself. I found them all over too. He had spots up his spine that have repigmented also. They are just slightly lighter than his tanned skin, but not white like they were. Elidel and Protopic are very similar, but we have always used Protopic. It too is very expensive! I will tell you it took a good 6 months to see a difference, but I was bound and determined to not give up! I will try anything and everything I can to help him! I just want to get through these hard school aged years! He takes a Flintstones complete chewable, 2500 mcg sublingual B12, 2000 IU of Vit D, 400 mcg foli acid, and we just started on ginkgo biloba a month ago. Praying it helps! Anything you need, just let me know! Where are y'all from?
  • Your response is totally normal! I cried for months on end and even went on an antidepressant for about a year! I still have my teary moments, I just try to not let him see. Austin has Vit on his feet, ankles, hands, knees, hips and a little on his legs. He does Protopic during the week, and triamcinolone on the weekends. His knees have almost completely repigmented. Luckily our insurance covered it. We also have a handheld light we use three times a week which has helped his hips a lot. His feet are about 40% white :( He also takes a ton of vitamins. I pray everyday that sometimhg will help! I work with a doctor who was diagnosed with Vit at 7, and about 9 years later completely repigmented on her own with the exception of one spot on her foot. This also gives me hope! How old is your daughter? If you ever need to talk, I am here for you!
