About Me:
There isn't anything easy about having Vitiligo. It shows, it's noticeable, it's unusual to an outsider, it's perceived in many ways by so many people as odd. But if I can tell you one thing I know for sure is that Vitiligo has given me this super power, this feeling of strength within; almost as if I'm unbreakable. Even more interesting is that despite all the wonderful things that I can derive from having this condition it also breaks me down quite a bit. If I stop long enough to look and stare I feel discouraged. If I look at myself in the mirror and feel genuinely pleased with what I see, once a little spot appears in the image, it throws me off. I have to remind myself that it's okay. I have to keep telling myself that it's only on the outside and for that we're really fortunate. Like many, I don't like to play the sympathy card by saying that we could have it a lot worse in life but the reality of it is that it's true....we don't have it that bad. Prayer is my source of motivation. It gives me hope. It encourages me to keep chugging along just when the wheels of my train feel rusted and worn out. I've dealt with this since I was 6 years old. Sometimes I think that since I've had it for the bulk of my life I'm accustomed to it. But I never give up hope. I hope you won't either. I hope that you'll dig deep into your soul and find the strength to help you through this. We're all just a message away and feel free to reach out when you need us the most. Now you'll find in your life your "real" connections with people; the people who have an ultimate interest in you as a person. That in itself is worthwhile.
