  • On August 1 and 2, 2009 - I hosted my very first VITFriends, LLC gathering at the RAMADA Inn, Boston, MA.

I wanted to give an update about our weekend together. I still cannot stop the tears from flowing down my face. Because, like a child having fun in the sand box at the playground, I did not want to leave nor did I want my FRIENDS to go, but as we all well know "All GOOD things must come to an end."

This first conference was much more that I could have predicted. From my niece, Angela our secretary, who decided to put together gift bags for everyone, I want to say a special THANK You! For Minister Yvonne a friend, who came and offered a PRAYER of blessing on our group a special THANK you! Thank you to Telisha from Brooklyn, NY, who brought the most people with her. Telisha brought Mom Denise, Dad Elon and her best friend Anna. To our special guest Miss Millie from Hartford, CT for sharing her heart and her PowerPoint presentation we say THANK you! Miss Pat from Bronx, NY for the opening game that we played to have us remember each other’s name, THANK you! To Richard from Bronx, NY, thank you for helping with sound and for offering to be our photographer for the weekend. Miss Elvy from Haverhill, MA thanks for being so real and honest, letting us know how frustrated you feel about this thing called Vitiligo. Thank you to Barbara from Boston for sharing you story. Also thank you to Shirley from Cambridge, MA for sharing your story. To Robin, Angeline, Sherri and Benjamin for coming and supporting us, a BIG thank you. For my husband and best friend Roy who is my biggest supporter, I say THANK you, I love you immensely. Thank you to everyone for helping to make this a reality. At our closing session, I was so very pleased when I gave a string of pearls to everyone and they had to find someone in the circle to give that to and share how precious you feel that person is; that was a moving exercise. Finally, a special THANK you to Diva Denise, Telisha’s mom, who gave the parting prayer that moved me to tears.
We did not get emails for everyone, so if you notice someone’s email missing from this list, please send that to me. Please visit the website (www.vitfriends.com) I have already posted some pictures, but there will be more coming from Richard. There will also be comments and suggestions that we have collected that will be added shortly. vitfriends.com
  • Hey Auldrin, I was moved by your story because about 12 years ago I had a daughter that passed away at birth followed 18 months later by a son that passed away less than an hour after birth and the pain led to the dissolution of a very healthy marriage. I resolved then that nothing, not vitiligo or anything else could be worse. So although I do care about having vitiligo it doesn't affect me with the same magnitude as before. I use to worry that women
wouldn't be attracted to me because of my vitiligo but over time I found it wasn't the issue I thought it would be. I did hit the gym pretty hard for a while. I thought a nice physique would make up for the spots. The jury is still out on that one, Anyway Welcome to the site.
