  • Its great that, a vitiligo group arrange a picnic. Every group can arrange some event throughout the year. Wish you good luck for all.

  • Amy,

I think you and your daugter would gain a lot from coming to the meeting. My son really enjoyed meeting people that were dealing with vitilgo. Last year was our first year and we really enjoyed it. We got a ton of information.

  • Yes, please bring children!!! The Kennedy's brought their son to last years picnic. Parents & kids can both benefit from attending. It's great for kids to see other kids and adults with vit and how they are coping with it. Parents can also learn how to find medical and/or emotional support to help their kids.
  • Are children allowed to attend the SW Ohio Vitiligo Friends meeting?  My 7 year old daughter, Celeste, was just diagnosed on Monday, 8/6/12...I'm feeling sad and overwhelmed as I already see new patches forming even after our Monday appointment...I remember the areas we pointed out to him...and she is now showing me new areas...today even!

  • Anyone dealing with Vitilgo would benifit from meeting with others going through the same thing. We really enjoyed the last picnic and it was well worth the drive from Lexington. Our son is 11 so if any parents out there have children dealing with Vitiligo I think it would be awesome to get them together.

  • Unfortunately I am not familiar with Dr. Lucky or her experience in dealing with vitiligo.  I can speak to the experience of Dr. Nordlund.

I will certainly post information about the support group we are establishing with UC.  We are literally just starting this endeavor, so please understanding it will take a bit of time to get up and running.

  • Thanks, Randy.  We are seeing Dr. Anne Luckey right now recommended by our son's pediatrician.  Have you heard of her?  If so, thoughts?

Will you post info on the support group in Cincinnati when it is available?

    Thanks so much.

  • If folks are interested in getting together for another SW Ohio Vit Friends meeting, feel free to send me a private note at marsh.rg@pg.com with your available on the following weekends: Aug 18/19, Aug 25/26, Sep 1/2, Sep 8/9.  This would be a casual event with the change for folks to meet and chat and share their experiences.

  • I would recommend you set up an appointment with Dr. James Nordlund.  He is the most knowledgeable dermatologist on vitiligo in the Cincinnati area.  He sees vitiligo patients on a regular basis.  His office is in Mason.

I will also mention that the NVFI is setting up a support group here in Cincinnati.  Our goal is to establish it in conjunction with the University of Cincinnati and to have dermatologists and scientists participate in the session so that participants are always kept up to date on the latest learnings.  More to come on this.

  • I am so grateful to have found this website and groups on here.  My 6 year old son has vitiligo.  We have been using Protopic for over a year and are not seeing results.  I would love to know what dermatologists everyone is seeing in the Cincinnati area.  We live in Loveland.  Thanks so much!!

New Vitiligo Blog

I have started a new blog at www.VitHappens.com in support of the use of UVB Narrow Band for the treatment of Vitiligo. I am always looking for more information, stories etc that I can share with others at the blog. Looking forward to your critique. Chris
