Honey is natural...the lemon has natural acidity in it. Lemons by themselves may be just tooo sour for your child...It is said (documented) that the stomache lining (in people with vit.) is lacking acidity and can be a major contributor to vitiligo... OOH... one thing that all my kids love is fresh lemonade with AGAVE Nectar...its sold in a regular food store next to the honey section...Every condition has a "trigger" (different foods) that causes it.. I truly believe that vit..is caused by triggers... and can be fixed by what we put in our childs bodies...I am not a health nut at all ... I am not a vegan either lol...but I do believe in what makes sense...It seems that NO medical doctor has any real idea about vit..In fact..the big shot dr. at NYU in ny ( by the way ..charged us $ 400 just for a consultation) acted more like ,, aah its vit and there s really nothing you can do..it will get better ..get worse...stay the same...just stay out of the sunlite.....then he talked about something called puva and lite therapy...Those are contradictions.... the medical drs. (at least to us).. act like if you have a serious skin condition, I will help,,, this one is safe so dont even worry about it,, here ...rub on this cream (protopic) !!!! Well,,, everyone has a passion... Mine is to help my son manage and/or fix this!!! Sorry to ramble on ,, I just want the best for all these kids and grownups with this condition...Talk soon,, Gene
but many times,i have read in some websites to stay away from sour foods...before my vitiligo progressed so fast in 2007,i love eating sour fruits..but when i start searching for cure,i stopped eating sour foods, including mango and pineapple, and then thats the time when my vitiligo stops spreading.now,i am taking b-12 and folic acid and sun exposure in the morning for 20 minutes, and i'm seeing now small freckles...repigmenting but slow... am also using aloe vera gel to my white spots.
Can I ask if you are both using her herbal cream/supplements in addition to protopic/other topicals or are you using this instead? Thanks!

We started using protopic @ 1 yr. ago.. This past spring we came across Wanakee.. we stopped Protopic she felt that the protopic was immediately. She said that her natural products were going to take a bit longer to start working due to the usage of protopic. We use it twice a day.. Morning the vit lotion only,,,, and at nite the boosting oil and then lotion.
We have seen really good results..especially on my sons face !!! Just the other day we started seeing some pigment spots coming through on his shins !!! We thought that would be the toughest area to regain pigment. I do tell Petey on occasion that " we are trying this stuff and if it works ..then great,, otherwise,, what you have is really no big deal," but,,, We really have seen some positive results... I cannot say that about anything else we ever tried...and the good thing is ..it is not chemicals...its all natural !!!
We do use some of her soaps, she throws them in sometimes with orders.
Look,,,, her products are not that cheap. But we have seen results already after 6 months. Secondly, she really wants the best for your child...(just talk to her yourself)....

Thanks Gene for your response. I checked out her website last night and was really intrigued by all the information she has on there. I like that it's not chemicals too and that it's something all natural. I'm nervous to switch regimens now...my daughter's had some pigment come back using Protopic since June of this year but it has seemed to stop for the time being. She has the raccoon eyes around her eyes and eyelids. I'm thinking about the Gluten free diet too...it really seems to make sense. Thanks again for the info.

Please let me know if you do switch ( I hope you do) and how your results is. I actually want to call Wanakee and ask her if from @ Oct. to @ april in the colder months with less sun....can and/or should I be using some kind of lamp/light on his skin to enhance the pigment growth ??? My wife and myself are so encouraged with his new pigment that its actually exciting !!!!! OOH .. our new thing....(natural also) ... a couple spoonfuls of honey on a small plate and a half cut lemon... Pete sticks it face down in the honey and suck on it..."yes double dipping is ok ;) " ... The acid from the lemon for the stomache is one of the BEST things for people with vitiligo... Regards,,, Gene

just stick a half lemon in honey and suck on it...or dice up lemon into tiny bites and mix in honey..or squeeze lemon in honey..I found out that they find it fun to suck on the lemon dipped in honey !! Thats just one thing we do...As I said in the past.. I read alot of natural practices for vit. One major no no is Gluten stuff..in general..that would be a good start...Gluten free products are best,,yes very difficult to do for a child ,, but ya have to try...try also The Wellness Well Center online.. with Naturalpath Wannakee Hill....In my opinion,,She is the the best source for info and products...she has vit. herself and seems to have beaten it...but on a daily basis,, way of life ---change your eating habits kind of thing !!!
Let me know how you are doing.. Thanks Gene

What is it about the lemon and honey that is good for Vitiligo? I will for sure let you know if we make the switch. We live in an area now too where we are approaching the colder months and I was wondering about the sun/lamp thing too. Thanks for all the info!
Hi, I am using natural and herbal lotions from Kee Hill who is a naturopath. My son Pete appears to have been getting color back (slowly) in his elbows and shins.. He does have alot of vit spots... Do yourself a favor and give her a call... She also has vit. Do a google search for Wanakee Hill or Naturopath Kee.. Im telling you.. I have zero affiliation with her but to pruchase her products.. But she is about the most knowledgable, sincere and natural remedy person I have ever come across...and she really cares about you and your child ! Please give me feedback on your opinion if you do get ahold of her... As for us... we are very happy so far with the results...OOh yes,, I almost forgot,, that Kee believes that you remedy yourself from the inside out ... Which makes perfect sense...Best wishes...Gene "Rocky" Durocher
