I have never worn make-up. Im more comfrontable natural then with make-up cuz i feel i have nothing to hide if this is how God intended me to be.I rather be looked at for being who i am then someone im not.
Never wore make up to cover my Vit. I remember telling my mom when I very young that I couldn't put it on my legs, feet and hands so what was the point. From that day on she didn't press the issue.
Now I can't stay away from make-up, M.A.C. Cosmetics, cuz this is what the Vitiligo Diva's wear...lol
That's all i wear is foundation, i've never been the makeup type of girl and my skin was always so clear, now that i use foundation, i see that i get pimples.
I have never worn make up to cover my Vitiligo, ok remember now, I was talked into using some stick concealer by a man that sells cosmetics, I was so traumatized and depressed at the time that nothing really made sense. I wore the concealer to early morning church service (at the time I dreaded mirror), I noticed that people were starring unusually only for me to walk out to use the mirror, guess what I was red all through and to worsen matters, I didn't blend it. It was not funny at all as I got angrier with myself for even bothering about make-up. Never tried that.
I do not wear make-up, other than my normal powder and small touch ups with eyeliner, mascara et cetra. I do not conceal my vitiligo for two reasons
First, I dread running out of it and having to learn how to face people again, I preferred presenting myself the way I am. I hated a situation where I have to take off make-up to present my real me to anyone especially in a relationship.
Secondly, I am giving hope to persons living with Vitiligo in country and beyond, its hard enough for me when I don't conceal it to get the over withdraws listen to me. They practically tell me that I don't understand what they are going through that if I do, I would be depressed and traumatized like them. I live it showing it off to whoever that cares to see more whilst creating awareness. I cant cover it and still create awareness and support persons living with it.
Just my style. Please live with Vitiligo anyway you have found to work.
Yes I wear make up on my face. I do not feel comfortable with out it. Once I am one color I will stop. Unfortunately my vit has escalated and at the rate it is going, I will be one color in about 2 years. I mourn my brown skin :-(
My arms are really spotted and my hands are almost white. I don't cover them.
Initially I didn't wear any foundation or cover make up until my junior year of high school so I can look good at the prom. The woman that did my make up was wonderful & found just the right mix to fit my tone...Dermablend does have a lot of red undertones & I'm more of a "true" brown than anything...In the past couple years I had to switch to Fashion Fair cream Soufle & now that I'm only doing the bottom portion of my face...it lasts a lot longer. I became fast as heck putting my make up on my face ( if there was an Olympic event, I would luv 2 compete). I mean....I like to wear lip gloss & a lil eye-liner 2, but if it gets so far gone that it defeats the purpose...I don't know what I'll do.
I have tried Dermablend too on more than one occasion. I could never match my undertone of yellow. Most of the dermablend has red undertones. I do use the dermablend setting powder.
CVS carries Black Opal it but not all CVS Stores. I use the concealer in Tan all year long. LOVE THE CONCEALER – will never allow myself to run out of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ALSO use the true color cream to powder which is a foundation. I use Rich Caramel in the winter and Truly Topaz in the summer when I am tanned some. There is a perfecting powder make up for oily skin. So if you have oily skin – this may be better for you versus the color cream to powder foundation. I have worn both and they are ok.
I would try the concealer for sure and play around with the foundations until you find consistency you like. They have the same colors in each foundation. I have tried all of it basically. The one I use is not too thick and not too thin. There are some foundations that are thinner (liquid foundation) and some that are thicker (total coverage concealing foundation).
I put the concealer around my eye (where my vitiligo is on my face primarily), use the foundation to blend the color with the other part of my face, and then I set with a powder. I really like the dermablend powder. However, Black Opal now has a blocking powder and I will try that next.
I have used Black Opal on my face now for about 10 years. The good thing is that CVS offers money back guarantee. So you can return it until you get the right color. Check that is how it is in Charlotte.
I AM NOT CONFORTABLE WITHOUT IT ON MY FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!
