we have used nutiva organic coconut oil with ground chickpeas after reading a study out of india and it did seem to affect the depigmented area. After extensive research i believe vitiligo is being caused by exposure to various toxins, mercury seems to be the one that triggered my son's vitiligo, It showed up shortly after having a dental filling put in. We have been trying to detox for a little over a year and his vitiligo seems to be stable, not spreading, and even repigmenting slowly.Vitiligo has increased at a similar rate as Autism which leads me to believe they are both being caused by similar mechanisms. For the first couple of years we followed all doctors orders and prescriptions to only watch the vitiligo spread rapidly, treating the symptoms never addressing the root cause. The drugs they give us seem to feed the vitiligo, adding additional toxins to a toxic body. The spot your treating might clear up but additional spots will show up and grow even faster. In the 80's OSHA linked several chemicals to occupational vitiligo, which leads me to believe that is just what it is , a symptom of some type of chemical exposure. So feeding vitiligo with these toxic drugs seems to be going backwards. We need to try to remove all the stored toxins within our bodies and give it the vitimans and minerals it needs to be able to restore itself.
Ground chickpeas ? cooked or raw ? also how do you keep the blend ? in the refrigerator ?
Thanks !
We use Bob's Red Mill garbanzo bean (chick pea) flour and mix it up every night. coconut oil is liquid above 76 degrees , so we mix about a tea spoon of cocconut oil with enough flour to make a paste and apply that. coconut oil is anti-bacterial so it could be left out.
coconut oil is also a natural sunscreen, conventional sunscreen has titanium or zinc oxide which are whiteners so we avoid those. We use equal parts coconut oil and baking soda for toothpaste, since conventional toothpaste has alot of nasty chemicals as do most soaps, shampoos, etc. so we make sure to only use those with lowest toxicity rating available through http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
coconut oil is also a good conditioner.
Thanks on the info. I did a bit more research about it and it seems making a chickpea extract would be a more efficient way to go . It seems the "saponins" are the active part from the seed and can be made by soaking them on methanol and then heated to get the extract.
I will be trying this experiment to see how it goes.
Sure -- we can keep each other updated on the progress overtime :)
