About Me:

My mother, who has vitiligo, began seeing splotches on her elbows and fingers right after I was born. It's since spread rather drastically and as a kid I watched people stare and whisper under their breath, and even had epithets thrown at me from my own classmates regarding her skin condition. Looking back though, I think it affected me more than it did her. She's a self-confident person, and confidence is something that she passed along to me as a child. In fact, she’s come to celebrate her skin for who she is. It wasn’t an easy journey for her but she’s a strong woman with an infectious personality. Anyway, that's a little bit of who I am.
