About Me:
I started developing Vitiligo quite a while ago, only just over 5 years ago, the condition became quite extensive. I have always been very skeptical about treatments in general. I tried steroids and the immuno-suppressant ointment such as Protopic and narrow band UVB treatment, to which I will return to in the new year and give it a full blown go and hope I will fall in the successful 33% percentile! Then there have been the bewildering myriad of suggestions, I have simply shied away from them, for fear of disappointment and being ripped off. I have used Dermablend, it is the best match in terms of camouflage for my dark skin tone. It did offer lasting cover - for about a day! It felt good though to not be noticed for the patches and spots on my face. Because of the difficulty in applying especially on a consistent basis, I decided to restrict it to special occasions. In addition, I see it as another "mask" I may have to deal with. I have quite extensive depigmentation, I feel camouflaging is futile. I am bringing myself to the point of accepting me for who I am, and not just for my appearance. This has been and still is a difficult journey. I believe my family, my work and my church have, to an extent adjusted. I often wonder if I myself have adjusted. I do feel there should be more focus on supporting people with Vitiligo to come to terms with and coping with, and living with the condition. Effective treatments are the ideal, but for those of us who cannot readily find them have to find a work around in this life.

Hello dear friend, how are you?
Hey everybody, sorry it has taken a year!!! I know!!!
Feels like I just woke up . . . again! LOL!
On the one hand, I haven't been so social [off and online] lately and trying to get back out there. On the other, work and family has kept me [and still is] very busy.
