About Me:
My history of vitiligo began in 2000 after I moved to Cleveland, OH from Rochester, New York. Since that time, I have lost approximately 85 percent of my pigmentation. I have had to educate myself on what it is, because the medical professionals would not and still do not lend much support. I am a single parent of a beautiful 38 year old daughter and a proud Nana of two beautiful granddaughters. My family and close friends love and accept me for who I am. I just wish the rest of the world would! Of course, I get stares, rude comments, inconsiderate gestures and have even caused automobile accidents from people staring and not paying attention while driving. I have tried light treatments, however to my dismay, they only work temporarily. I used to wear Dermablend make-up, but that is expensive and tedious to apply. I am natural now! My original perception of myself with this disorder was fair, however, over the years it become better. I am seeking support, understanding, acceptance and friendships.

Hello Nancy, welcome to vit friends. I enjoyed readying your profile, since vit is related to stress; do you think the move to Cleveland had anything to do with the onset of your vitiligo? I was just curious because my vitiligo went crazy when I was relocated to No. Cal a few years ago. When I was relocated back home, it seemed to calm down and began to re-pigment in several areas. I am currently still over 68% depigmented and clearly understand what you’re saying when you wrote “I just wish the rest of the world would understand” Thank you for adding me as a friend and Happy Mother’s Day in advance.
