I'm a registered nurse and I work in neonatology (sick premature and newborn babies) and was diagnosed with vitiligo at about 12. I was told then there was no treatment available from the GP and the only option was to dye myself white. I then sought out treatment for myself once I had finished uni and realized there were lots of options available. I was quite annoyed that I had not been referred initially to a dermatologist and wonder if my vitiligo would be as bad as it is now if I had had treatment on it earlier rather then leave it for 10yrs without treatment. I have tried many treatments and I'm looking into getting a home UVB unit atm. Update: have had a home UVB unit for some time now. Looking to sell it actually. was good, but found I'm getting lazy and not using it and also its so easy to burn yourself.
