Carla,
I have had vitiligo for approximately 6 years. I am 54 years old. I inherited it through my Dad, so I knew what it was when I first saw it. My grandma had it also. It never really bothered them, so I just accepted it and said " Oh well" They were fair skinned. however, so it was not that noticable. I am white, but I tan real easily and it shows up pretty good. In the last year it has gotten to my face, so now I am checking out some options. Went to a dermatoligist for the first time 4 months ago (Arrowhead Dermitoligy) and she has me using a cream called ellidel on my face. I see no difference. I do use dermablend on my face (makeup) and the vitiligo is virtually undetectable. I spray tan my hands and arms twice a week and also apply a skin staining product from Clarins that darkens the skin on my hands and arms. It does not match my tanned skin, but it ain't bad. It just looks like I have blotchy skin. I don't even bother with my torso and legs. What I am truly concentrating any clinical treatments on is my face.
You don't have to tell me about that. My vit came on strong and fast. I also did not know what was wrong with me for 7 months. The doctors thought I had lupus. The meds made my hair fall out. I am an african american who took pride in my hair down my back. So slowly quickly i changed into a balding, fat white women was very painful I hated to leave the house. Then moving to Tucson I could not find any black make-up. I just stayed in the house eating. Only 3 months ago did I decide to love and honor myself and to turn to natural healing. I wanted to do the laser treatments but my insurance would not pay for it.
Pranic healing and visualation are under the new age heading pranic healing helps you to help your body heal itself by removing old/dirty energy in your body and replace it with fresh energy. Visualation is simply seeing your body the way you want it to be and believing it will happen. Yo
I am not on treatment now. I was doing uv light box treatments but it became to emotional so I had to stop. The crazy thing is 3 months after I stopped I began getting tiny spots of color. I have been using pranic healing and herbs and visualization.
well caral puva is a treatment you go to the derma to get its very awsome and helpfull and u would actually see some diffrences in the fist weeks!!=))))) and protopic is a lotiong for vitiligo !! its like steroids for the skin cells to beat!!! the white cells
hi carla,
you look so lovely in your photo that it's hard to understand that you would be discriminated against. i'm so sorry that you experience this, but use it to your advantage. let it make you strong, and just know that those who would not get to know you because of superficial reasons are not the types of people you would like to invite into your world anyway, right?
I always say that vitiligo can be devastating and it is life altering at the least. But one thing I have found for sure in this life, that come what may, if it doesn't destroy you as a person it only makes you stronger, let vitiligo make you stronger, be encouraged Carla.
