Pen Pals

Does anyone have a son around the age of 8 that has vitiligo that would like to be pen pals with my son?  My son doesn't know anyone who has vitiligo and I know he would love to communicate with someone who also has it.

    i have a daughter who is 9 & I asked the same question on another site & are now in contact with another parent. This is a wonderful idea :)

    That would be fabulous. My son loves to write and would love to be able to communicate with someone else who experiences the same things. I really don't think he would mind at all.

    I am a counselor in a school and know kids can be so cruel. Brady has experiences some teasing this year. He is such a smart and athletic kid and should have all of the confidence in the world but doesn't because of this. His vitiligo is on his leg. Where is your daughters vitiligo? Do you want our address? Thanks so much!!

      Lyndsay's vit has spread just about everywhere.  She has blocks of pigment left on her legs and arms and back, but otherwise has lost most.  So far we have not had any issues with teasing that I am aware of.  We do get stares often and did go to a birthday pool party last year where one of the boys asked about her skin, but I was standing there and answered him.  Considering the situation she is pretty content to be herself and does lots of activities.  Yes, please give me your address and I will have her write to him this weekend.  If you are uncomfortable putting it on the discussion list, you can email it to me at jme307@snet.net.

    Hi Amy,

    My daughter is 8 and has had vitiligo since she was two.  I don't know if he would like to write to her since she is a girl, but if so, let me know.
