Advice

Hello. Im fairly new to the site and feel so blessed finding it and of course the parents corner. My four year old son was diagnosed a few months ago with his first spot forming in his rectal area.. After all the emotions i decided to gear up and def up his vitamin intake and his skin protection. As soon as i started to lather him up in sun block for the summer he broke out incredibly in his legs and feet from one week to the next. I couldnt beliee how this organic sunblock really triggered his vit.. Im fearing lotions and washes now. Has anybody had a similar experience? Thank you !

  • Hard road yes indeed vanessa..anf thank you guys for the responses i appreciate it ladies :)
  • Trina, is your daughter using Protopic? Mine started 2 months ago, but I stopped applying it, when I read online that the parts I was applying it on, the feet, hands, and knees, are exactly where it has been least affective. We're now working with a dermatologist who focuses on curing the body from the inside versus prescribing meds or topicals.
    • She was prescribed pro topic a few years ago but it wasn't very effective for a her, since then we have tried many preventative measures and meds but now that she is a teen she uses Triamcinolone Acenide .25 and it is very effective for the parts of her body that are visible to others.
  • Hi Andy, it is a rough road for sure dealing with this Vitiligo. I too am glad for this site. I started making sun block for my daughter, getting the recipe online. If your son is sensitive , you may want to look into making it too.
  • Hi, my name is Trina, my daughter(15) got her first spots at 5 and I spent YEARS trying to figure out her triggers ( foods, products, environments ) only to figure out that they may not be triggers at all because its not an allergy. This is a very random confusing condition and you have to learn as you go. It will be rough on both of you but you have to surrender to the fact that its not something that you can really control. As you've seen organic or gluten free doesn't mean that it better for him. I would love to say that staying away from certain things helped but it didn't. My daughter takes topical medication and it is the only thing that has been working for her.
