How Long?

To those of you who are totally or at least 85% de-pigmented(naturally). How long did it take?
I know it will be different for everyone.
I would say I am only 35% de-pigmented. It is happening rapidly for me though. Every day I notice new spots.

  • Wow...I would say about 3 to 2 yrs maybe. It caught me by surprise
    • hi, Im reading over the answers in this thread. Do u mind answering me a question please. My daughter was diagnosed with vitiligo a few days ago. I am completely uneducated and unprepared to deal with it. Does every person eventually lose all pigmentation? Are there different types of vitiligo? I really dont know what I should do at this point. Im waiting for an appointment to go see her specialist, but how do you drop news this big on a person, then just expect them to wait until they see another doctor to get answers? Im so stressed out =/

    • Hi Marquetta,

Let me first suggest that you check out www.vitiligosupport.org and click on the tab "Vitiligo"

I promise you that this site will be of great use to you and it will breakdown a lot of questions with real reliable answeres that can educate you. I can understand how you might feel being in your sistuation and know that there are other parents who are and have been in you shoes.

Another site that I consider to be geared towards parents is www.avrf.org (American vitiligo research foundation). Both of these site are great!

And unfortunatly there is no telling what vitiligo will do. So people only get small spots that never grow and others have white patches all over for years and then some people looses all pigment naturally like myself.
    • I look forward to becoming totally de-pigged. I just want to be one color. I am not as brave as you girl. I wear make-up. I will continue to wear make-up until my face is totally or at least 85 de-pigged. You have always been beautiful and living your life out loud. I have always admired you for that Miss Ciney.
  • I am not sure everybody is different. I have had the same spots for 10 years but my aunt lost all her color except on her face and hers went fast.. I think she was done in about 5 years.
  • My is happening slowly and it is my legs, thighs and but areas since 1995.
  • its about the same for me. i've notice just my hands, arms and a big spot on neck. but my hands, arms are rapid
  • For me it took 15 years.
