UNTITLED POEM

Untitled

If you were me, what would you do
take action against everyone who looks and stares at you?

If you were me would you yell, would you scream
asking every doctor if they could do anything?!

Would you share with people what life is like
to live with vitiligo and how your skin is turning white?

If you were me, would you be desperate for change
going to every dermatologist trying lotions, medicines and ultraviolet rays
because you are oh so ashamed
and classify yourself as being maimed?

Would you curse, would you cry
and sit and ask yourself why?

The unkind actuality is that it is what it is
and I feel beautiful being who I am

I see myself pass the crust my skin
I don’t discriminate against the outside when I have so much within

Realize that you are someone great, inside and out
so go live, celebrate,  and be at peace with yourself

Show the world that you are strong and be courageous;
surely it is what I plan to do
If you were me, would you do that too?
