Please lets share movies that encourage us to see we are more than our vit spots......

Ok vit friends....if you get a chance this weekend watch the movie  ASAP "SOUL SURFER" I promise you won't regret it...and I strongly suggest a box of tissues along with the popcorn!!!! This is a wonderful movie especially if you have kids with vitiligo (but watch it first to make sure it won't scare your child it's about a 12 year old surfer in Hawaii who gets her arm bitten off by a shark and her fight to not give up on her passion)...and guys it's not a chic flick...my hubby made me watch it! It's a movie great, and it's so inspiring!!!!!!!

    Well thank you soooo much Steve for starting this site!!!!! It's a great to have support from other peeps....as you know! How did you make it happen making the site! It must be a great feeling to know how much you have helped us all! What do you do in education?

      I talk about and work with companies figuring out how to use social media in education, and I'm the founder of a social network for teachers called "Classroom 2.0" that uses this same technology.  One night I got the idea to do this for Vitiligo and had the site up in a couple of hours.  I'm glad you are finding it helpful--that means a lot!

    I know it really made me feel less ashamed about my vitiligo...I still don't share I have vit I am still accepting it.

    Steve aren't you the person who started and runs this site? Are you a professor? Just curious!

      I am the site creator, but I'm not a professor... :)  I work in education, though.  

      I was just about to post on the site about the movie when I saw that you already had.  So thanks to you!

    I loved this movie, and I had the exact same reaction.  In fact, I downloaded her book and read it as well, and my wife and I watched several youtube videos of interviews with Bethany Hamilton, the actual girl.  I believe that this movie has significantly impacted my personal relationship with Vitiligo, and since watching it I have been much more confident about my Vitiligo in public. Bethany's willingness to act kindly and openly with her stump arm almost always visible has given me courage as well as great appreciation for her.
