I'm interested to know if anyone has personally investigated the link between pH and vitiligo? I was reading the other day that vitiligo peeps have acidic skin pH, and wondered if anyone has tried to re-balance their pH through lotions applied externally or through diet internally? I think the coal tar treatment is supposed to swing your skin pH back to neutral/alkaline, although I've not tried this through prescription I believe you can buy exorex (normally used for psoriasis). I also read about alkalising diet plans and drops that can alkalise water. Thoughts?

I have been to see Dr Shallreuter in Germaby who believes in Ivankas theory. It his doctor has developed a catalase cream. She is having excellent progress with it. I started her treatment 10 days ago.
It's important to remember that Pseudocatalase cream addresses effectively oxidative stress (from outside). This is a good treatment. However, oxidative stress must be treated from inside too
The main vitiligo causes are: oxidative stress, physical traumas/friction and emotional/psycological stress. So, Pseudocatalase cream by itself may improve the condition, but not cure and/or stop spreading.
In my opinion, the only way to counter attack vitiligo properly is following a Functional Treatment (www.vitiligomap.com/protocol.html).
Hi Flávio- we have shared many emails and you have been a great help to me. I heard about this group from you so thank you. I have stabilised my vitiligo and started repigmenting slowly through diet and supplements over 16 months. I agree with the leaky gut theory out there. I am using a hand held lamp for now but am going to the Dead Sea for 21 days on Sat 18th and then will purchase the larger lamp when I feel it is necessary. I am positive I will get good results. I will keep in touch when I'm in Jordan as I will no doubt require your expert advice. Like you I want to spread the word and help people eradicate their vitiligo. How is your sons now?
Thanks Steve! I read this a few months ago, but have just read it through again and got so much more from it this time. I'm going to take a serious look at my diet, which I think is quite healthy already and vegetarian, but maybe it's more about the pH. I don't want to take any more supplements! I really think this could help me, and just as the sun is strating to come out in the UK! Gem :)
Hi this is what I know : One of the theories for vitiligo is that skin pigmentation is destroyed by a chemical produced by the immune system cells. this chemical is called Hydrogen peroxide . H2O2 has oxidizing properties and used for bleaching in many industries . H202 is a natural way of the immune system to deal viruses and bacteria. After the body uses H2O2 to kill the viruses it uses the enzyme calalase produced in various organs to decompose H202 so it doesn't harm the body. I read somewhere that people with vitiligo have a lower number of catalase enzymes in the skin.
I too am curious about this thing.... I read about a lady who says she's fully repigmented by doing this stuff and if I'm not mistaken, it involves diet along with pH buffering (?) medications taken internally. I thought several tests including an individual's blood type etc etc is needed to determine the pH balance? I may be wrong, but the pH balance thing is different for everyone and that the treatment might needs to be tailored accordingly.... so if that the case, I kinda think something which is universal like exorex may not work for everyone... but who knows ...the mind boggles :(

How are you?

I wish you success at Dead Sea.
I met Valerie while on business a few months back. She's pretty fully repigmented and really believes it was food/stomach/gut related.
