So I just got my Daavlin dermapal 80 in the mail and tested it out for the first time. I dont really know how long to do it for on each spot or how far away to hold the wand and the instructions don't really say. Does anyone else treat with one of these or something similar to it?

That is a very interesting article thanks for posting. I wish I had a derm near me that was even remotely comitted as this one seems. I plan on adding these vitamins to my regimen as I am scheduled for in office uvb in december. My derm told me that the first time you do it is more effective and deserves a full 4 month trial so i had to postpone. As for in home being safe I think it is if monitored and recorded. I have gotten frustrated from not getting some spots pink and ended up burning myself. I do think that if you were to really commit to it and keep a detailed log to be monitored by a derm it could be very effective.
The article states that narrow-band UVB treatment continues to be the "workhorse" for Vitiligo, and then specifically reiterates what he said in the presentation: "In that trial, patients with vitiligo received vitamin C, vitamin E, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and alpha lipoic acid 2 months before narrowband UVB and continued for 6 months. Compared with placebo-treated controls, the percentage of patients achieving greater than 75 percent repigmentation was about 2.5 times higher among patients receiving the combination of antioxidants."
1. Is it considered safe to do home treatment with NB-UVB?
2. Has anyone tried doing so with the vitamins mentioned?

I went to the health food store this weekend and bought some generic versions of the items mentioned above. I'm taking them at a low, "standard" dosage each and will hope to see if there is any change in my Vitiligo.
I wish I could give an accurate review at the moment but it is really hard. I got it and then a week later left for Africa for 2 months. I used it as much as I could while I was there and electricity was an option. I have been using it since being home but its too early to tell. I can tell you this it is time consuming. My Vit is not large patches and it is random places so if one patch is 3 inches away it takes a few minutes for itself. I am going in to see if I am a candidate for in office treatment next month with psoralen as well so we will see.
I have heard from people that it is definetly the most effective treatment out there so I don't want to put you off but I just don't know if i'm discipline enough to really acheive it's full potential.
thanks for that link, DJ, very useful. Danny, how's the treatment going? I was just looking online to buy one of these but interested in your feedback as it's a bit pricey. Would be great to know if you've had any success. Hope you have! Gem :)
My advice would be to start out slow- maybe no more than 2 or 3 minutes on each area you are treating and if you notice that you burn (sunburn) then reduce it to 2 minutes or 1:30 minutes and slowly increase the time.
