  • There is a possible connection. I'm convinced that my vitiligo is connected to the adrenal fatigue that I've had. Adrenal fatigue leads to low copper and hormone levels which could be implicated in vitiligo. Alcohol is very hard on the adrenals ,especially heavy drinking. Heavy alcohol use needs to be avoided during adrenal adrenal fatigue recovery. I personally only use 1 to 2 units of alcohol at any one time, and I feel fine on that, so my message would be to keep it moderate......!

    • The only time I have repigmented naturally was the time I had less stress good relationship having best summur sun and lived normal eat varaity drink moderate, my vit starts after divorce...did a lot treatmentmy vit is stable cant Clear the spots ..there must be something wrong Im doing  since I get good result and it fade away.

The only known common trigger is emothional stress

The only commen repigmenter for most is moderate sun

Too much of every thing is bad for us .

      • Bamsegutt,  did you have a chance to do a food allergy panel test?  You might be surprised with some quiet allergies.

Gluten is just a possible one.  As well as dairy.

I've just found out that my son is allergic to mustard, spirulina, gluten, egg white...

      • Hey Bamaegutt,
What treatments did you do to stabilize your vitiligo?
        What

  • After reading all of the posts, I am truly more confused than ever. The one time I re-pigmented (4 years ago), was after a very stressful year, as well as going on 3 all inclusive vacations (drinking copious amounts of alcohol, eating foods I would never normally eat, not using sunscreen on a regular basis). Normally, I am a health conscious individual, but when it is vacation time, I let loose and get crazy. That year was the one and only year I saw re-pigmentation, while not having outward regard for my health.

Over the past 6 months, I have not drastically changed my diet. I eat only lean turkey, chicken, and egg whites for meat protein (grain fed, free run birds), but not on a daily basis. The only other protein I rely on, is clean whey isolate powder (post workout drink, which is mixed with a clean complex greens powder). My diet focuses largely on steamed or grilled vegetables (plus a spritz of extra virgin olive oil), almonds for my choice of nuts, and I eat fruit (mostly mixed berries) with fat free plain, or greek yogurt, or fat free cottage cheese as a snack option.

I have reduced my alcohol intake hugely, but I have not cut it out completely. My husband has a very stressful job, and he enjoys a drink after work. I join him, we talk, and it is very relaxing for the both of us (regardless of other comments). It is not the only way we relax together, we also do Yoga, Kayak, and we Walk.

Since I have started to make feeling stress free a priority in life, which is very difficult for a person who is a perfectionist, and who is a 'type A personality', I am noticing more freckles in my white spots. Also, as per my previous post, I have been taking more B-vit's, Ginkgo Biloba, large amounts of Vit D, and exposing myself to the sun 15 minutes per day, without sunscreen. Stress reduction has to be the biggest point of change in my life thus far, which is proving to have to have the biggest positive change. Not only am I seeing 'freckles' I feel good about myself. I had a friend over to visit last evening that I had not seen for 30 years .. and I didn't try to cover up my Viti. That is huge for me. Yes, I was aware of his stares, but I took a deep breath, and waited for him to ask about my skin condition .. which he did not. I emailed a detailed message this afternoon, including reasons why I didn't try to hide my white spots. As I said, this is a huge victory for me. A first .. if anything, and I feel pretty amazing about it. Amazing enough to take pics of my white spots tomorrow, and post them, because I can see them changing.

I am really excited about the possibility of re-pigmentation, especially on spots that are going on 3 or 4 years old. I was seeing some new areas on my face starting to de-pigment, but they've stopped.

In the past, my career was that of a Registered Nurse. I can honestly say that based on my observation, every body is different. What works for some, might not work for others. What works for me, may not work for anyone else. Please don't take what I have to say as 'the holy grail'. I'm just trying to work through this, just like the rest of the people in this group.

I am always open to new ideas, since this is the site that gave me all of my new ideas!! My next challenge in life, is to abstain from alcohol. I know I don't need it, it is toxic to the organs, and it does tend to lead toward poor choices in life. I'm going there, not there yet, but I will be soon. I'm willing to try any possible solution, as long as it is a healthy one!!

    • That is a bit strange i gguess. Maybe the way you were eating prior to vacation set you up to accept the sun exposure. In my opinion, If you cant handle the oxidative stress that sun exposure produces then it might make it worse but if you can handle it, then it should help. Also i know nuts, too much fruits (super high fructose in fruit), and most dairy can be problematic.
  • Bamsegutt

I actually mentioned not drinking alco not because it causes or cures viti , i mentioned it because since you have Viti you must be confident like a wall and if you need alco to relax it means you are not confident .

And with alco you can only be confident while you drunk but the next week after drinking you will be helpless like a chicken compared to like me or some other confident person .

And i wasnt talking about a few drinks now and then , such thing doesnt exsist in my mind . I was talking about all out consumption for weeks straight .

When you have witi you must become the most confident creature on this planet , then and only then you will be able to call it LIFE .

Dont make it a disaster but instead learn more about this world , get more from it than lose because of it .

You are all amazing and beautiful people .

Dont give up ! You just cant ! There is no such option . Dont depress , just refuse to lose ! If you are still young then you will see that day when there be a cure and it will be so simple that it will cost 5 dollars and you will get a cookie with that !

    • I come to conclusion that too much alkohol is not good ..just moderate consumption occasinally a couple of drinks ,beer or wine can not be bad..Thesse immunotherapist recomment to avoid acessive use of alcohol and..helthy life for vitiligo too.

If i can I will try to stop for some time and see if the repig will be permanent ,I respond positive to most treatments but it doesnt stay permanent..alc is the only thing I didnt try ..I hope Irepg now for real..I will share the result.

  • Alcohol is just another factor and burdon put on the system. It may not directly impact vit but indirectly alcohol consumption putting that strain on the liver, ccontributes to sibo (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) among others. For example. When the liver is using its critical energy to clean up tge alcohol, it takes away from its job to help clean up the already compromised system. mwhich then helps contribute to gut permeability which then contributes to crap in the blood then, an activated immune system..finally you'll experience symptoms. There are many factors involved and alcohol does as a matter of fact directly and indirectly contribute to general degeneration of the body. Just like enzymes indirectly clean the bowel. They them selves dont make it to the end alive but when they digest matter correctly, its smooth sailing out your poop shoot. Ive had many epiphanies on the health subject and vitiligo or ANY "disease" is simply the end result of a sick body. Genetics play role yes but only if the conditions are right for disease will you experience one. It doesnt matter what disease you have, it matters that you have it and virtually all diseases are reversable. They work in the same fashion, ALL disease is cell disease period end of story.. There is three characteristics to cell disease,, toxic cells, starving cells, and suffocating cells. Remember this is the end result and where symptoms arise. This is good news because if we act on it and eat right which almost no body knows what that means anymore, plus supplement we will heal and feel great. Sorry im kind of all over just rushing through this haha but get tge picture that its not one thing that impacts this. Many factors! (: food is tge biggest. I still have yet to share what i am all going to do but i have a solid plan to help myself and hopefully others. Its coming soon
