About Me:
I am the mum of a daughter who has developed vitiligo when she was less than 2 years old. I have given up my job and set up self employed to be able to work around the school hours. I work in market research for the pharmaceutical industry. My daughter is now 10 years old. She would like to meet other children affected. I am glad I have come across your website today. I would like to ask my child whether she agrees with me uploading a photo of her, I dont really want to do it without her consent. I hope you understand. I would love to get in touch with other parents whose children suffer from Vitiligo.

HELLO AND WELCOME TO VITILIGO FRIENDS!!
Kirsten
Hi Baraba,
Thanks for the kind words :)
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. But hey, I can guarantee you that all of us (people with Vitiligo) have been through this for almost our entire lives!! I still experience it from time to time. I believe time plays a huge role in ones adaptation to life with Vitiligo. I would suggest you try to help her accepting herself for who she really is at this age and maybe look for a support group ( a physical place where people with Vitiligo meet and help each other out). I'm sure there are plenty of such places around, unfortunately there are none where I live! Just keep the unconditional love and support flowing and your daughter should be fine :)
I sincerely hope that the black seed oil treatment works well for your daughter :)
Let me know if it works,,, I might be tempted to try it :D
All the best and have a great weekend!
Abdul
Hey Barbara,
I totally agree with you on the fact that most treatments differ in effect from one person to another, but in your daughter's case I think it wouldn't hurt to try. The earlier you try the better. Leaving all of that aside, I suggest you focus more on emotional support and making sure that your daughter feels good about her self and not care too much about what others might think of her just because of how she looks!! To be quite honest with you, Vitiligo has been acting as a repellent of superficial people in my life. So that's a big plus in my opinion :)
The Black Seed Oil sounds interesting and it wouldn't hurt trying it on your daughter. Let me know how it goes.
Thank you for the kind words dear. Oh yeah it's all hot and sunny over here, not the kind of "sunny" you would enjoy hahaha. I prefer cold weather though :D
All the best to you and your daughter!
Cheers,
Abdul
Hey Barbara,
I've never heard of Black Seed Oil before,, I've tried so many types of treatments but I chose to stop ( well at least for the time being) as I saw that all treatments aren't really as effective as I had thought! Plus the white patches have spread across my whole body making it harder than ever to counter. So I decided to enjoy my life and stop wasting my time looking into all these treatments,, I still have hope though, and I suggest that you try to do something about your daughter's condition before those white patches spread further.
All the best!
Abdul
Hi Barbara,
You are most welcome. I had the same problem when I first joined in :D but I see you've figured it out well :)
