Church Services with Vitiligo

I am just wondering for those of you that go to church. Do you attend services with or without your make up on? I just told my pastor that I have Vitiligo and I am still a little scared to go to church without my make up on but I will go to the stores and up to my childrens schools with no problem.

  • People stare for various reasons. Some are wondering and others are admiring.
  • I go to Church regularly but do not wear makeup to cover my Vitiligo. I wear my normal Imam powder and light makeup and off I go. Must tell you, seems the stares is much more in Churches even when they see you at everyother program in church...my experience though
  • I sing on the praise team as well as with women's singing group and right now my face isn't as involved as the rest of my body, but I imagine I will buy and wear makeup as more spots come.
  • I have bin leavin with vit 4 20 yrs and i have never wore make up. Ppl knw me without make up, i do use make up bt nt 2 hide vit
  • When I attend church services, I don't wear make-up. I dont really wear it at all
  • It would seem that way but for me I am so active in my church and I teach the childrens ministry I don't know if I'm just afraid for them to see my skin or what. That is why I asked the question because everywhere else I am fine but at church I seem to want to always make sure my makeup is on.
    • I tend to want to have makeup on around strangers. When I am around family and friends I don't care as much. Maybe because these are people who knew me when I was one color. Also I know they love and accept me. I am still a little leery of stranger's reactions. I have gotten a lot better over the years.. I have had vit for about 16 years now I think. It seems like I have always had it.
Don't stress it. Don't do it until you are really ready. What did your pastor say?
    • My pastor says he loves me anyway and he said he will keep praying that I will be healed.
  • Can I ask why are you scared of going to church and not stores, and childrens school without make up?
Are the people in your congregation very judgmental? What did your pastor say when you told him? I would think church is where one would feel most comfortable.
