Ok. I almost never post angry comments like this on forums but this i got to say it. I'm amazed at how scientists and the medicine community are able to clone animals , make ridiculous glow in the dark cats and dogs and animal mutations, turn a woman into a man, and a man into a woman, explore space from new perspectives everyday and so many more recent advancements that i thought i would not be able to see during my lifetime .But yet they haven't come up for a definite solution or cure for a simple skin discoloration such as vitiligo. It seems to me like they are not trying hard enough since they keep coming with these annoying creams and methods to be applied to the skin when in reality the problem lies in our immune system or thyroid or whatever the hell is happening internally.
This crap is in our genes, start from there and manipulate the hell out of it , before we are born if possible.
It does boil my blood to hear of a woman on the news who found out a way to stop the gay/bi gene from expressing itself before the baby is born . HEY GUESS WHAT ? Life is not all about sex! Stop wasting so much money on prolonging erections , or deciding over whos gay and whos not , while the rest of us who are already here, are having the color of our skin wiped away like a kid who has been playing clumsily with his white sharpie on a human skin canvas or just dying of plain old cancer !
This all reminds and i hope you have seen this movie called "Idiocracy". The following quote pretty much sums up the science community at this moment.
"The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections."
I rest my case.

A cure for vitiligo probably wont bring in enough publicity or money so it gets shoved in the "to hard basket", but I agree with you, I'm glad its winter but spring is around the corner and I dread having to wear long sleeves and covering up because of all the stares. I know I should not care what people think but its hard to ignore.
I agree with you 100%. I am frustrated as well and don't know what to do anymore. I tried everything, but I am still keeping hope up. Vitiligo may not be fatal, but it can definitely get fatal with stress. Stress can kill you. For people like us who are so conscious about our skin, I think stress makes it worse, It's hard to believe that there is no cure.
Eventually a cure will be found... This is a disease that is not going to kill us... so they will concentrate more on the ones that are fatal...I do hope it's in our lifetime, but who knows...

At the Vitiligo meeting in NYC they took DNA samples from like 40 people with it. So I can't say there not trying.
Gary White : Taking DNA from 40 people is one thing, but taking DNA from 40 people and actually doing something with it is another thing. Anyways, I guess we'll just have to wait and see..
Yari, it is frustrating but the medical community is baffled by most of the diseases that are classified as auto-immune. They still don't understand why the body turns on itself or develops an aversion to something that isn't actually harmful.
