Today I met a person I met many times before for business.Today for the first time (now that i know what vit is) I noticed his hands are fully depig and he has it on his neck, face and legs. He is white but not fair. He told me he had it since he was 15 and he always covered only his face....he is now 35, married with two kids, goodlooking and very successful. It's the second time in a week I realise I have known somebody for a while and never really noticed. So....maybe i'm just brain dead/blind, but maybe just maybe, what people see is the image we project about ourselves....maybe if vit is not a big deal in your head most people will maybe notice but won't care at all....

I am a massage therapist. I was talking with one of my clients and said something about my vitiligo and he said "waht is that?" Ishowed him my hands and explained what it was. He then said "I had no idea! I never even noticed it before." He has been coming to me for 3 years and never noticed. WOW! Usually I tell people about it or bring it up before they say anything just to get it out of the way.
I honestly have no idea. Some days I feel like I have a sign on my face that says, "HEY... LOOK AT MY WEIRD SKIN" and other days I think nobody cares. It depends if someone comments on it. If someone says something to me the whole week I feel subconscious about it.
I think if a person is a lighter complexion it's not as bad as it is for those of us with darker skin. If I'm wearing long sleeves and pants and only my hands show people won't really notice until I'm in short sleeve shirts. Then they say they never noticed it but I know why. I try to hide it. :(
I don't think that's true . Most people will stare and on occasion will ask you about it BUT i think once they get to know you they won't care anymore ..... at least that's the case for me .
still somehow i still try and hide my vitiligo to avoid that questions .
