Vitiligo Diversity

Hello my vitiligo friends old and new!

I have really grown to love this site with the rich diversity it brings.  We should be proud of that.  We have a STRONG community here with most of us having vitiligo or a loved one with vitiligo.

We come from many different cultures and backgrounds.  I personally do not know of any support family as unique as our vitiligo family.  I would like to see us continue to support our diversity.  I am seeing many post about how we should or should not respond to having vitiligo.  There are people here who are so ok with having vitiligo, some that are in between (myself), and then there are some who hate having vitiligo.  With our diverse aceptances to vitiligo, our responses will be equally diverse.  Finding friends here is no different than in life.  Some will be and some will not be what you need.

Let us be proud of what we have here in our community of vitiligo friends!!!  Please make a difference in your UNIQUE way!

Peace to all, Cawanda

  • I like this Cawanda!
    • Thanks Alison, how are you?
  • Right now I guess I'm at the "hating this" end of the spectrum but hope to move to the "ok" end. It feels like this happened at such an inconvenient time, but what would have been a good time? It gives me hope to see so many people comfortable and confident in their own skin with no coverup. I pray to have that same courage regardless of whether or not my depigmentation accelerates or if it goes into remission.
    • I understand. I am actually more of a hater in the summer time. In the winter, I can cover up. So I actually flip flop. But that is what vitiligo does for me.
  • Tonia, I am down mostly in the summer. I want to dress cooler and tend to cover up. But this might be the summer I show the vitiligo more!
  • Thank you for your posting Cawanda. I totally agree with you and Pat. I'm in the middle when it comes to my vit. Most of the time now, I feel down. I am a Christian and truly rely on my faith in God to guide me through this.
  • Yes Pat I agree with you!
  • I think many here are people of faith, believe in higher being. I'm a devoted Christian who believes in prayer and my prayer to everyone here He will see us through the end of our lives with hope and a blessing of strong will to cope with our daily struggles. Peace to you Cawanda!
