Most definitely will!
In the meantime you should also check out Emily's Vitiligo (if you haven't already) at vitiligo.50webs.com . It may give you some ideas on how your sons diet can be adjusted in hopes of improving his vitiligo. Emilys vitiligo is encouraging because it is somewhat of a diary of a fathers journey to cure his daughters vitiligo (which he did). I stopped eating dairy after reading that book, and now I think I'm gonna take Kevin's advice (he's one of us) and go paleo, eliminating all grains.
I also consulted with Dr. Wanakee Hill at www.thewellnesswell.com, and one of the things she advocates is a gluten free diet because she says celiac disease and vitiligo share the same gene. She also has a book on Amazon called Wanakee's Nutritional Approach to Vitiligo that I have read through about 5 times so far, lol.
Anyways, that's all I can think of right now, but if I think of anything else I will message you. I will add you as a friend so we can keep in touch. Also if you have anything else you'd like to ask me, feel free to email me. I'm happy to share with you any knowledge I have gained from my long hours of research :) take care!
Thanks Tawny and Lyn for your ressponses. The Merry Clinic treatment does look very promising. I am asking for my 8 year old son. I did email the clinic and they said it was safe for children. He doesn't have any other autoimmune diseases or any other health issues for that matter. He is a very healthy boy besides the vitiligo. We are currently doing Protopic and NB UVB therapy. We are going to see if we get results with this treatment first. Since he was diagnosed three years ago, his derm has been treating him topically. I always felt that the issue is what is going on inside his body not on the outside. I will definitely google the TCM and consult his derm before starting any treatment.
Tawny, please keep us posted on your results. I hope your treatment is successful. In this world, acceptance is very hard. If you are different in the littlest way, it can be very tough. It's very sad that people put so much emphasis on the physical appearance and not the person you are on the inside. Best to everyone!! Cheryl
I am currently on the Merry Clinic treatment plan - the Vitilax pills and Vitiliax oil. From all of my research, and I have done a TON, the Merry Clinic looks to be legit. The thing I like most about it is that she (Dr. Li) treats the vitiligo from the inside with chinese herbs, as well as the outside. What I did was research the ingredients in the Vitilax capsules and oil by visiting Traditional Chinese Medicine sites (TCM). I also Googled "chinese medicine vitiligo" and I found a number of Chinese medicine sites that also believe vitiligo is caused by excessive warmth in the blood, blood stasis, Qi stagnation, etc. - which is what the Vitilax capsules are supposed to address and correct.
Personally, I really like the TCM approach to treating any disease because they believe disease is caused by imbalances in the body. I wholeheartedly believe this approach, ESPECIALLY when it comes to vitiligo. Vitiligo is so difficult to treat because there are a number of issues going on inside a person's body...and everyone's different, which is why you can't just take Gingko Biloba and expect it to work. It may help some people, but for the vast majority of us it's a little more involved than that.
There's also the fact that when you start taking a supplement by itself (without increasing other vitamins and minerals at the same time) you run the risk of creating further imbalances and deficiencies. A good example of this is B vitamins. You should not just take one B vitamin by itself, but instead increase your intake of all B vitamins, because they work together.
Anyway, my point in saying all of this is that the Merry Clinic products are designed to balance your body and immune system. I like that I don't have to figure it all out on my own.
You might want to google the ingredients in the Vitilax capsules so you can see what I mean. I am staying positive and I plan to give the Merry Clinic 6 months before I deem it worthless, and even then I will go see Dr. Li in San Francisco before I give up completely. A big part of conquering vitiligo is staying positive and not getting stressed out about it (something I am constantly reminding myself about). It is a bit expensive, but it really does look legit to me...and if it works who cares how much it costs, right? I've been selling some stuff in eBay to cover the cost, LOL.
I think it's worth a shot, and I plan on keeping everyone posted here on my progress.
