sun and vitiligo

Recently I've been laying in the sun alot. I have been using a bannana boat tan spray to help in color. I noticed a couple of my white spots turn pink after being in the sun for a couple of hrs. Does anyone kno why this is? Does it mean the color will return if I continue. I mean damn why can't doctors find a cure yet? If it can turn pink why not color?

  • My fiance had a spot show up by his eye. He seriously could care less about his Vit because it isn't wide spread. During this time he was coaching tennis and he didn't wear any sunscreen. That spot of Vit burned so badly. It was lobster red and finally it faded. Now it's repigmented. I wouldn't recommend this but it's interesting.

  • I was out in the sun for a week. I wore a lot of sunblock and still managed to get a sunburn. After that went away, I noticed some pigment came back. I have been lucky with trying random things and having them work off and on for me.

  • I get the same thing and its not going to regain color but will sunburn. I was told to stay out of the sun or to use the highest sunblock so the vit won't spread or burn. Hoping for a cure too, I have regained pigmentation by using Protopic. What I don't understand is how the skin returns to the original color before the Vit started, because my skin color came from years of tanning.

  • Its a confused state ..pink is considered good in a way . Sometimes after showing sunlight , skin looks pink (for about a day or two) .. maybe sometime soon you may see freckles/skin color coming back after pink stage . But at times if pink is slowly turning reddish pink ..  think ur sunburnt then ..apply aloe vera in that case .... also avoid sun for sometime to heal up...

had same query , got wonderful inputs here :)

    • I agree with what NJ said.  Except, I use Cocoa Butter instead of aloe vera.

    • thank u:)
