Hey guys,
I've been in the sun A LOT lately. I often am but with my spots covered. Lately, however, I've had a more care-free spirit and wear tanks/bikinis. I thought my spots would get darker as my skin is, too, but, it seems that as my skins darkens, my spots don't. Does pigment reappear slower on Vit patches than regular skin? Will they ever become darker with sunlight? What have you guys experienced? Please share and thanks!
Warmest Regards,
Stephanie

Hi there, I experimented with trying to get direct sun in order to get some color on the spots (mine are mainly under my eyes and in the socket of my left eye). I found through endless tries, that all I manage to do is get more tan on the "normal" skin, and this in turn makes the white areas look STARK white in comparision, not a good look. Meant to mention, I avoid direct sun now as much as possible (not always possible but I always wear sunglasses and use my car visor and ballcap on days off). I was told that this pigment "quit" some time ago (about three years for me) and nothing will nudge it to come back. Not to be a doomsayer but everyone is different, some things might work for different people. But any sun makes everything stand out MUCH more for me, sadly. Thank God for Dermablend! I hope this is helpful information.
When I am in the sun and my skin gets tanned, my vitiligo becomes more noticeable. Not sure how it is for others, but that is how it is for me. I have had this since I was 8 years old and am now 25, and have never had an experience of them getting darker...only more noticeable and usually a sun burn to go with it if you don't have some sun screen.
Sun burns are the worse. When I was doing PUVA therapy, my spots would often burn and become irritated. Thanks for your response.
hm, that's interesting. perhaps its because the back of your neck gets a lot of sun with minor disruption unlike your hands?? Thanks for the feedback. The spot on my neck seems to darken and the one under my arm is being a bit stubborn also! :/
