Hi There! I'm new here and am so thankful that I found this site. My daughter was diagnosed with Vitiligo this past June, she just turned 7. In June she had 5 spots and now she has 12! My question though is about a noticeably darker border with some darker skin kind of bleeding into a white patch that surrounds one of her eyes. It wasn't dark and "bleeding" color into the patch before and I'm wondering what this means. Is it good or is it just the process of losing more color?
We have been using Protopic around her eyes and a steroid topical cream on her body spots. I've been supplementing her with a liquid complete vitamin complex which includes B vitamins and Folic Acid and also have been giving her a Probiotic every day. We've also been changing her diet according to what I've read is good vs. bad. I have been letting her get sun outside.
Anyone know what the dark edging could mean? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Dear Ms. Davis: Thanks for the question. The answer is not straight forward. Frequently as vitiligo lesions enlarge there can be a dark border preceeding the expansion. However, in the case of your daughter as you describe it the "dark border bleeding into a white patch" is more indicative of repigmentation. Please keep me informed. Thanks.
