Just have a question for the group. I have started using Protopic on my hands, Legs and face. I know from reading a lot of post on Protopic that it seems to work well on face but not on other parts of the body. My question is do you think I should keep applying to legs and hands or switch over to coconut oil for my hands and legs as some others on here are trying. I started the Protopic on June 6th this month. I was wondering because it would limit the amount of Protopic I am using on my body. Just wanted to get some opinions!

For me protopic was a short term solution. 5 years after I used it successfully the areas that repigmented went back to white especially on the face. Doesn't go to the root of the problem, but can cover it up in the short term.
Hi william, from reading many post on this site, i noticed that everyone says the same thing. protopic works better on the face, for the rest of the body there's always other creams, but i never heard anything about the coconut oil.
Hi William, if the patches on your hands and legs are on bony places like elbow/ knees the you can apply protopic . In other condition if the white patches have black hair on it then coconut oil with early morning sun exposure will give you good results, because the hair bases have melanin cells which get easily activates with the UV-A nd UV-B rays present in sunlight. Good luck
I am going to keep using Prtopic for my face. I think for sure it has stopped the Vit. from spreading more on my face and believe me the vit must of been PO cuz it seemed to be spreading fast and furious the spot seems to be getting more narrow if that makes any sense. It has only been 3 weeks and i am going to do for at least 6 months on my face. I was just wondering if anyone has had luck with Protopic on their hands and if not then not waste Protopic on my hands and try coconut oil there. Have you seen any results with the coconut oil on your hands Kelly?

is it normal to feel warmth on my face using protopic? what should i do? do i have to lessen the amount upon applying?
Burning is a common side effect especially in contact with warm water. Eventually it stops happening.
when will it stop you think? on my second / third day of use? i apply yesterday but till now i feel so hot.. just on my face..
"eventually" means weeks or even months until the skin gets used to it. I'm sure it's different for each person.

Protopic works for me on hands and legs. Slowly, but surely. I make sure I get some sun, too.
