I am dealing with vit since 1 year. Spots are gradually increasing in size. Does vit always get worse? Are there ever cases where it is stable and doesn't spread. I have read that stress worsens vit. But there is absolutely no way around stress. It's so frustrating in this day and age when premature babies can survive and they can fix cleft palate and do so much for so many conditions. there is no relief vitiligo sufferers. I think only 1 percent of the population suffers from it so there really haven't had strides to cure it. I'm praying that there is a cure in our lifetimes. Amen!
I've been using Protopic on my face and legs now for about 6 months and I've seen no real benefit yet. My legs haven't got any worse, so maybe it has helped there, I don't know. On my face though, it's still spreading slowly and not improving.
I will persevere because I've heard it can take 6 months+ to start to help.
@ Shifa, I also just started on Ginko Biloba about 3 weeks ago. No improvement yet but it's early days.
@Justin Which area was the repigmentation permanent or was the loss of pigment permanent? I know everybody is different but I honestly don't think there is enough research out there and it is a diseas disorder only 1 percent faces. That too it's not very common in America. So Dermatalogist don't know much. One dermatologist just told me there is nothing you can do. I think the research should be patient driven.
Are you taking multivitamins? Lack of certain vitamins or minerals may be to blame. Also has anybody tried ginkgo bilboaa?
I used it for a few years when I was younger. But the improvements were not significant enough to keep using the cream. Once I stopped using it though, the improvement all disappeared.
According to my doctor, when applying it on face and neck, many patients can see an improvement, typically in 2 or 3 months. If patches are on fingers or other part of body, it seems less effective, but worth a try.
It actually inhibits the T cell (it kill melanin ) activities, so that your melanin can grow. It does not promote skin regrowth, but change something under your skin.
Yes, for some guys, patches retain pigment.
It did not burn my skin when applying, But I don't know your cases.
is this a steroid cream or does it burn the skin and the new skin that comes back comes back repigmented?
Does anybody know how the patches spread? If left alone do the grow? I'm trying to figure what the best way is to stop the progression and keep the patches from growing and spreading. def. eliminating processed foods and eating a healthier diet helps.
