Pregnancy & Vitiligo

I am asking all ladies who are willing to share how their vitiligo changed during pregnancy. I am currenlty expecting and the doctor (OB) told me my vitiligo would stop during my pregnancy because it is an auto-immune disease and all auto-immune diseases suppress during pregnancy. I guess because a woman's immune system changes how it works or doesn't work so that our body will not reject the baby resulting in miscarriage. Anyhow, he was right. My color has changed and it is actually repigmenting a little at a time enough for me to notice. My white patches are reddish brown, I am getting some brown spots, and the lines on my palms are filling in, etc. It is a great thing even though it is temporary and it just shows how complicated or amazing the body is. Now if I could figure out how to trick my body into thinking I was pregnant all the time LOL! Thanks for sharing :-)

  • I am not sure what Melagenina is but most information say that the increase in melanin is caused by the hormonal changes during pregnancy. I know I got darker with my first pregnancy and I did not have vitiligo. I don't think I will get as dark but you never know. I see more color returning and my white patches are getting darker and I have gotten brown spots pop up here and there. I can see the changes but to the average person I probably look the same..lol!
  • Thats interesting.... eeeeehh does this explain the Melagenina..... just a thought
