  • hiya , is there irritation on ur skin aswell , is it only the area effected by vitiligo that is turning reddish and is it because of applying something externally or cuz u have eaten something ?

    • irritation not always.

      Why irritation is there :

Well sunlight+babchi application sometimes caused skin irritation , which doc says is good sign...I have seen babchi alone or sunlight alone won't cause irritation. With time and guidence , have learnt that maybe its stronger dose for me so i have to dilute it with sesame oil and apply coconut oil/moisturiser afterwards... itching happens due to dryness as well.

  • Yeah for me pink was a very good sign . But my Viti spots were too small to see if its pink or reddish but now those Vitis spots are gone where they turned pink .

  • continue,,,just wait for brown dots to occur,, which will cover up slowly,,meanwhile upply some moisturiser,,,,,,pink means the skin is starting to show response for the treatmnet,,,,,,take care & all the best

  • Hi NJ,yes-I think Aloe Vera would be very good to help cool and calm down excessive itching and soreness. Please speak with your Dermatologist/nurse and inform them you are having this kind of reaction.I'm assuming you're doing a UV based treatment-they will advise you on how to protect your skin better.

I had one very bad reaction when the skin at the back of my neck virtually fused-it had gotten burnt quite badly during a session.I was told to apply Protopic-it did sort it out,but its better not to get to that point,if at all possible. Its like anything else, some people are more sensitive than others.

    Best wishes with your treatment.

    • thanks Ish wish u the same,

i observed that oil alone does not cause this irritation... neither if i show sunlight ( minus any oil application) cause any irritation... so this  this irritation happens when i show oil + sunlight/uvb exposure... i got to know maybe oil concentration i was applying was strong for me so doc told to dilute it with sesame oil...lil better and also they told u might get used to mild irritation after a while ...lets see... till now only pink no change....

      • Adding for reference.

Response from doc - In case of itching, you can simply apply coconut oil afterwards that will help you to control itching.

Mild irritation/itching is a positive sign and continue applying ointment. In case of heavy itching / rashes/blisters you can stop applying medication for 2-3 days and after that you can restart medicine by mixing jasmine oil/seseme oil/coconut oil into it. diluted medicine will not cause itching.

started mixing seseme oil with medicine it helped... and if after sun exposure next day there was mild itching sometimes....used coconut oil as suggested... better now.... vit is pink....hope to see brown dots to occur ( fingers crossed!)

I don't blister now as learnt with time to adjust with sunlight...( it varies from person to person sensitivity ).
