Narrowband UVA Prototheraty for Vitiligo

I have started two treatments for my Vitiligo on my hands.  The first is an ointment (Diflorasone 0.05% ) and cream (Pseudocatalase) that I apply twice a day.  The other treatment is a Narrowband UVB phototherapy recommended by a friend that has Vitiligo on his face, neck and arms and is working for him.  In fact, he stopped using the oitment and cream.

Does anyone have an experience with these products/treatments?

Be well,

Edgardo

  • Hi Robelyn,

I'm in Florida, USA.  The price of my UVB was $800.  It is a small unit but works well.  I use it on my hands where the Vitiligo is very visible.

As mentioned no results yet, too early.

  • hi sir im robelyn from philippines. may i know how much is the price of uvb? please response
    • Mine came from Ireland and is a full half body unit (if that makes sense?!). It cost about £1300 that is British Pounds. Like Edgardo it is too early to say if it will work but I do get reddening of vitiligo patches after use which I am told is a good sign....we will see!

      Good luck

  • hi im robelyn.. does the  Narrowband UVB phototherapy realy works? i also have vitiligo.. please response.. thank you so much
    • Yes, it does for me.  I have been doing it for about 3 weeks now and I see some spotting already under my arms.  I had success with PUVA about 13 years ago too.  :)
      • Is UVB the same as Puva, I had Puva a few years ago with good results, but the Doctor say's I have have my lifetime supply of it and can't have anymore.
        • why you cant have it anymore?
        • No it is different.  PUVA is UVA light while UVB therapy is Ultraviolet B light.
          • Thanks for your reply, do you have to be refered by your Doctor like I did with Puva?
            • Yes.  I bought a full body panel home unit from National Biological.  I think I put $800 down and then I financed the rest.  I think the total was close to $3,000.  My insurance wouldn't cover to buy me a home unit but yours might. Before I bought my home unit I would go to my derm 3 times a week and pay my copay each time so it is kind of worth purchasing one if you can!
