Lets be honest...Pt 2

RANDOM THOUGHT:  Since all of you have said YES!

HOW DO YOU MAKE FACE 2 FACE CONTACT WITH THIS PERSON????? AND DON'T Bull Sh*t me

Since you are willing to DATE someone w/ vitiligo.. Tell me how it starts?  What are the words that come out of your mouth after Hello...????

I've never in my life seen two people with vitiligo, or two of anything this rare walking down the street holding hands but PLEASE TELL ME... how this plays out.

Please paint a vivid picture in my mind on how you engage in conversation with this person face to face and how would you feel or think they feel.

  • I don't think it's really any different from dating anyone else other than within this very small community that we have, we've established our own tiny minority group. As the majority of those with vitiligo aren't diagnosed until they are in their 20's, by then they've dated with their natural appearance. Where those of us diagnosed as kids have always been spotted.

I believe there are two members on here from India who are engaged or got married. As the percentage of those with vitiligo is stronger there, it's more likely to happen.

At those little people conventions, a lot of people within that community meet their spouses. But since our group is much smaller and there aren't as many opportunities for us to interact with each other we don't have that luxury.

Appearance is the last of my concern. It's more about finding someone who shares the same values as me and if that person happened to have vitiligo, no biggie.
  • I haven't come in contact with a young woman with vitiligo (yet), mostly all the approaches I've had with vitiligans have been from older people (+50) coming to talk to me as they are concealing their spots with make-up/clothes and I'm clearly OUT THERE (patchy and proud hehe)

... unfortunately they ALWAYS talk about remedies, supplements, make-up chit chat that I really don't care about, seems like they can't understand I'm not stressed about it covering it up, sometimes they actually express sorrow because I'm young *sigh*
    • Oooh Hector, good point. I've noticed that too with the talks about remedies, supplements and stuff. I’m with you.. I’m OUT THERE patchy and proud too. And I think when approached they automatically think I’m gonna talk about that stuff and I might just assume they might want to talk to me about it when I could care less about my spots...lol. "please don't interrupt my outing to talk to me about my white patches"..... was my sooooo my attitude back in the day.
      • what happens after hello ok...

        ummmm

        eye contact

mutual understanding that we want to ravage each other is attained.

Discussion is made, a time and place is established.

        Need i say more? ;)
        • Yes! lol
  • Ciney it would be like starting a new relationship, talking and getting to know one another. I think it would be confortable because of the vitiligo. Of course it would take it normal progression of developing like any new relationship.
    • hahaha, Cawanda.. you dont know me that well. "STARTING A NEW RELATIONSHIP"..."TALKING AND GETTING TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER". rolmbo! I intimadate people for one and guys in this area is chicken poo....lol. But again vit is rare and to see someone with it I think I'll have to use causion. IDK.. if nothing is said to me, then I probably wont say anything but Im working on speaking to everyone who I can tell has vit, so I can spread the word.
