Is it only YOU or do you have any relatives with vit?....
I have vitiligo, my mom, an uncle and a cousin, all from my mom's side... The weird thing is that my mom's spots come and go, are very small and appear and disappear by themselves, NO TREATMENT!...
My kids are ok... so far! ;-)

I'm the only one out of my siblings that has it, no one else on either of my parents side has it, and out of my 4 kids one of my sons has started to get some spots on his hands.
I've only got a very small family so not many people to check, but I'm pretty sure only my grandmother had vitiligo (on my dad's side). No family history of autoimmune disorders either (that I'm aware of) so just me!
When I first started with the spots and discussed it with my mother we couldn't figure out what it was, and at first the doctors didn't either. After talking to an aunt she told me that my great-grandmother had vitiligo. Now I have an aunt and uncle who has it as well. I am the only grandchild who has it, but I also have Graves disease (hyperthyroidism). I pray to God everyday that no one else in my family develops this disease, it is depressing and effects every aspect of your life. I have a daughter and she is darker than I am --- I pray that she does not develope this.
Vitiligo is an auto-immune disorder......auto-immune disorders have a wide range of disorders.....lupus, MS, psoriasis, hasimoto's thyroidsomethingoranother, non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, etc.etc.etc. So while no one in your family may have Vitligo, check the other auto-immune disorders and see if any of those are in your family. Diabetes is another. Also, the auto-immune disorders does not mean that your immune system is weak. If anything it is stronger and/or out of whack. I have vitiligo. My mother has psoriasis. My uncle died of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and we can trace other disorders to our family! So when you research vitiligo.....research auto-immune disorders and see the array of disorders that can be related to ours!!!!! Hope some of this helps!
I'm the only one i my fam that has vit. Its stressful because nobody really understands what I'm feeling and what I'm going through, arghh! However, I come to this site and I always feel much better because of everyones positive words! thanx
My grandmother has vitiligo, her whole arm depigmented and over the years most of it came back but she still gets spots here and there, she told me her uncle also had vitiligo, out of the last two generations I am the only one in my family that got it, lucky me :/ I like to believe this will make a stronger person in the long run
My father also has Vitiligo and his started when he was in his fifties. I first got my Vitiligo when I was 27 (almost 28) years old. My two sons and two sisters do not have Vitiligo and I pray to God that they never develop the condition.
Looking back from generations, I am the only one with vitiligo and it really bothers me. I have two kids and I hope to God that they don't get it. I am a very self conscious person and I hide my vitiligo all the time from the public, I hate it so much and I hope that one day a miracle would happen and it would all go away. I spend alot of money over the years on medication hoping it will work, also on cover-ups and yet I can't see positive results. The summer is the worst for me.
I'm the only one in my family. Although about 6 months ago, my older sister said she got really drunk and she started getting some freckled spots in her arm but they went away with time and now she doesn't have anything. I have a HUUUGE family and absolutely no one has it, not even uncles or aunts of my parents or my grandparents (that my parents have tried to remember).
