Over the past year I've seen 1 lady with vitiligo on her arms at a local grocery and said nothing to her. Today, at same store while picking up for the 1st time prototopic cream I saw a man as I was walking out with vitiligo as he's walking in. Same thing I said nothing! I did notice he walked out of my way to avoid me, I think. I was wondering how others on here would do? Would you go out of your way to ask questions or just ignore them and go about your business?

I tend to ask questions. I've only ad one negative response. But I want to learn all I can about this disease so I can further help my daughter. I don't care what people think of me it's for my child health. I always ask questions. Plus i like them to know they are not alone.
I tend to reach out and talk to them, purely because I feel I can hopefully offer them some more information(but not mis-direct) about the condition. I have found that a huge number of people that have Vitiligo are seriously uneducated and just go on what their Doctor has said which is usually "There is no cure, learn to live with it". I leave them with my e-mail if they want to chat further!
I almost always say something. I hold out my arms, point to my Vitiligo, and ask if they have it too. I've only twice had awkward reactions. One just didn't say anything real back, another was a doctor who I could tell then felt embarrassed. But have had great conversations with SO many others that I keep doing it. And many of them say: I've never talked to anyone about this before.
I also speak publicly at conferences as part of my work, and I have a slide I show about this site and my own Vitiligo, and usually one or two will come up afterwards and talk with me.
Sometime we like to avoid and sometime we like to share. i usually avoid other person with vitiligo or with any disability to tell him nothing is odd with him/her i noticed but sometime u feel a chemistry and u like to talk. as few days ago i met a guy around 23 or 24yo.staring at me in a Pharmacy. At last i looked at his face and noticed some smaller spots on his forehead and then i asked abt that, He was under too much stress, asked me my exp. and told me what the treatment he is taking.I told abt this page to see the vast vitiligo world.thought he will feel better after visiting such pages online. but the strangest thing was he gave me his wrong e mail address.
