I HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO PARTICIPATE IN A NEW PROCEDURE TO RESTORE MY SKIN PIGMENTATION HERE'S A COPY OF THE E-MAIL THAT I RECIEVED,

Hi Mr. Manley, My name is Dr. Marsha Henderson and I am the new Research Fellow at Henry Ford Hospital Department of Dermatology. While Dr. Huggins continues to assist with the Melanocyte-Keratinocyte Transplantation Procedure (MKTP) research study, I have assumed some of these responsibilities as well. Dr. Huggins has forwarded your previous email, and I am attaching a document that may address some of your concerns. How well someone responds to treatment with MKTP depends upon multiple factors, including the areas that have Vitiligo, if their disease is still active and if they get new spots of vitiligo in areas of trauma. If you are interested and qualify for this study, you would have to come to Detroit 7 times in 7 months. The procedure and all follow-up is provided free of charge (there is no payment for participation), but you would be responsible for travel and lodging expenses. I am attaching a study consent form for you to review (no need to sign) as well as an additional document with some further information on the skin transplantation procedure. If after reviewing these documents, you remain interested in being considered for participation in the study, please reply to this e-mail with answers to the following questions: 1. What is your full name? 2. How old are you? 3. What is the best phone number to reach you at? 4. Where do you live (city, state)? 5. When is the last time you got a new vitiligo spot or an old spot got bigger? 6. Where on your body do you have vitiligo? 7. Do you have vitiligo on your fingertips, around the nailbeds or the lips? 8. When you scratch or otherwise injure your skin, do you get vitiligo or thick scars in that area? 9. Do you have any health problems(esp diabetes, HIV, or hepatitis)? Thank you for your time and consideration, Marsha Henderson, MD Research Fellow Department of Dermatology Henry Ford Medical Center 3031 W. Grand Blvd., Suite 800 Detroit, MI 48202 Research Office (313) 916-6964 Fax (313) 916-5334

THE PROCEDURE INVOLVES REMOVING SKIN CELLS (MELANOCYTES) FROM THE UNAFFECTED (NON -VITILIGOUS) AREAS OF MY SKIN AND HAVING THEM PLACED IN THE VITILGOUS AREAS OF MY SKIN IT'S SORTA LIKE A SKIN TRANSPLANT THAT SOME BURN VICTIMS GET, THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS PROCEDURE IS THE FACT THAT I WILL HAVE TO FLY DOWN TO DETRIOT MICHIGAN 7 TIMES IN 7 MONTHS AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE AIR FARE AND HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS MYSELF AND I JUST CAN'T AFFORD TO DO THAT RIGHT NOW

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROCEDURE OR IF IT MAY INTEREST YOU OR ANYBODY YOU KNOW PLEASE CHECK THE ATTACHMENT THAT I HAVE ADDED BELOW

  • That's funny, last summer i was talking to a doctor at henry ford to do the clinical trial they were having at the time. unfortunately the procedure they were doing wasn't going to do much for me. So they talked me out of it.He was very nice and understanding. He kept calling me just to check on me. I wish i could go. I would save every penny just to go.How did they know about you, did u contact them?
