Our son has been using protopic for 8 months now. We are only putting it on his face and neck. The results have been close to amazing.
The question is how long do you continue using protopic after pigment has been regained?
Although more than one doctor has told us to not be worried about the thing you read for protopic as a parent its hard to just blow off. I'm wondering what news anyone here has been told by their doctors.
If you have used protopic how long? After results did you stop? If so what happened then?
Thanks for your input.

I was wondering the same thing! I've been using mine for about ten months. I was also wondering if I need to keep applying it to the spots that have repigmented.
is it normal to feel warmth on my face using protopic? what should i do? do i have to lessen the amount upon applying?
Hi, Ladies. I have been using protopic for almost two years now and have tried different methods then the prescribed twice a day. First let me say that I used to rub it into each spot for 20 seconds or longer, but only rubbed 10 seconds in one particular spot and found out the 10 seconds is enough. Secondly I found to get better results if I would skip a day here and there.
I have had repigmention to a couple of spots that went away and stopped applying, really discouraging to say the least. The spots are smaller then before returning.
Feeling warmth only lasted for the first 4 to five months, now it only happens occassionally.
Hopefully this helps.
thaks a lot you make me feel better now.. i did not feel anything 1-3 hours after i apply protopic 0.01%. 3 hours above i feel warmth.. i apply yesterday..and i rinse it off after 4 hours.. i still feel warm today.. but much better than yesterday.. is it normal? or should do the same you do? rinse it off from my face after 2-3 hours?
will i see any good result in the future if i rinse it off after 3 hours?
If you rinse with only water than it's o.k. I believe it's ok to go swimming after an hour. I would apply in the afternoon and then wash it off around 5 o'clock. then applied at night before sleeping and wash in the morning. Now I only apply at night, maybe four times a week and have had one spot start to disappear.
I know what you mean. I figured we would for a while, but when is enough???
I have been using for over a year now. Was worried about possible side effect(cancer) but doctor told me that it only happens if used for a internal transplant, which they use to suppress the immune system to take the transplanted organ or whatever was transplanted. Kinda put me at ease. Also I found out that they are coming out with protopic as an eyedrop. So hopefully it's safe.
I did stop using for two months due to a family tragedy. One spot that was the size of a quarter started to return. I've had other spots completely disappear and have not returned after stopping the protopic treatment.
I don't think the spot that reappeared was completly gone when i stopped using protopic, which I'm hoping is the reason it started to return.
