wondering - do vitiligo patches show up immediately as small white dots that continue to emerge (then connect) or have some people had medium to larger pale patches show up that become whiter and whiter?

well...last winter, my forehead/top of head spots filled in after 2.5 months of phototherapy. now, seven months later - the spots are coming back...and with a vengeance! to top it all off, i've started noticing blotchiness/discoloration of areas/spots on my arms and legs.
i am a total wreck. i know my vit is currently mild (the phototherapy tech told me so today), but i have this constant pang of anxiety in my tummy when i wake up every morning and see more and more areas/lightening (we're not even talking pale white yet) emerging. have been aggressive about phototherapy (been going for almost a month), elidel and vitamins (B12, folic acid, amino acids and vit d).
am hoping being proactive will help to keep the vit and its progression at bay. sorry - just needed to vent some. been feeling pretty wrecked.
Personally, my patches started small and grown larger over time... also appearing in random places. They have consistently stayed white (except for the occasional sun burn. Ouch!) and my freckles disappear. That's just my experience... going on 15 years now.
The spot I first got was on the left side of my chin but the very first time I noticed it, I saw this small reddish, almost hickey-like spot under my lip. At first I thought it was some type of weird side effect to the nasty hangover I had from drinking really bad the night before so I didn't think much of it. Within a week or so, it started getting lighter and lighter and from there it just progressed.
Mine showed up as little dots on my forearms then grew.... like little sprinkles......i noticed though if i catch them that small i throw some protopic on and they dont grow...so im hoping eventually they will dissappear..
Vitiligo is different in each person. Some started with a small dot and rapidly progressed. Some have gone years with out any new spots occuring. My spot started on my left side of my face. One day when I was looking at my old (well not that old lol) high school pics I notice then that light area on my face. Stress tends to cause more spots to a occur on my body.
I had a large patch on my forehead appear suddenly, but small dots on the back of my hands that grew fairly quickly but then stabilized once they melded together and were substantial.
thanks for your reply, steve! did the one on your forehead gradually lighten? what about the ones on the back of your hands - did they grow lighter or did they show up the light color they are today?
as far as I know, any number of scenarios may emerge. I had just bumps on my arms on the back side of my elbows, then eit expanded on my arms and hands. separately, it developed elsewhere.
