Ginkgo Bilbao

HI

has anyone tried this natural herb remedy? I saw a research paper that claims it halted the spread of vitiligo in 100% of participants, although the  number and trial was limited, and it repigmented 15%. I have just read up about it and it is supposed to help Raynauds disease (which I also have....loss of feeling in fingers and toes in cold conditions thought to be a circulation problem). I wonder if the 2 conditions are linked in any way; does anyone else have both? I only develped it in last 5 years but have had Vitiligo for nearly 30! I think I may give it a try. Dosage is 60mg twice a day and teh trial continued for 2 months which is not too long. If it does not help my Vitiligo at least it may help my Raynauds by the time the next ski season comes around!

  • I took ginkgo biloba twice daily for several months.  I did not notice any significant change in my vitiligo during this time.  Actually, the vitiligo on my hands and face has worsened since taking ginkgo biloba.
    • Hey Dj ..sad to hear that it worsen ur vitligo ...In most case it helps but with some ppl it get worsen good that you stop taking it .

    • I started taking Ginko around 11 months ago along with other vitamins. My Vit seemed to stop spreading and 2 spots on each hand went away. I had a medical procedure 2 months ago and had to stop taking the Ginko along with my baby asprin. I didn't take Ginkgo for around 3 weeks and my Vit started to spread like crazy on right side of my mouth and right hand also a few other spots through out my body. I have started taking the Ginkgo again just because of what happened. I don't know for sure if it was because I stopped using Ginkgo that made it spread but I am not taking the chance because as you all know it was very depressing seeing all the spots popping up. Steve Ginkgo is like asprin and causes thining of the blood in your body this might be the reasons you felt the way you did but who knows. In me I have noticed I bruise very easy now and I mean big bruises!!:(
      • Will, i've heard that about every treatment, thats why i've decided not to go that route. if the treatment starts working you have to always continue it... if you stop for any length of time, Vit resumes and sometimes faster then before, like its trying to catch up to where it was before.

So r u taking Ginkgo and Protopic now?

        • Yes I see that now Marty! I had to stop taking because of my medical test. I am now taking Ginkgo, Recouleur, Vitamin D3, Fish oil and yes Protopic. I may start Coconut oil as I have read some interesting information on here. I will not start using it though for atleast 3 months as I want to see how Protopic does on it own.
          • Ok well I will continue with the Ginkgo and see what happens but as always not expect miracles. I have also stopped eating meat, fish and dairy (which is not as hard as it sounds and I feel great and have lost 5ibs!) and I am taking a bikram yoga class once a week (which is yoga at 40 degrees) which is meant to be excellent for releasing toxins....I had a 12 hr headache after my 1st class. Idont mind doing things that improve my health becasue you know you will get some benefits even if it does not help your Vitiligo. So we will see.....
            • yes I have tried it and i am still taking it, try it with ginseng,  we are all unique, but sending a good blood flow to every single cell is essential in many ways that is what ginko does. it still increase but in much slower phase.

            • hope you dont get a half day headache again after your next class, i never liked working out in the cold, makes me too tired. need the heat. good luck.
  • I've been taking it 3x a day for the last several years, during which i had new vitiligo lesions, so its not a miracle cure for me, maybe it needs high dosages to work for vitiligo?
  • So, I read a similar report and started taking 120mg a day about two weeks ago.  I wasn't going to say anything unless I saw results... Ginkgo seems to have some interesting side effects for me--it has a caffeine like effect, and also has decreased my neuropathy (pain/tingling in my legs)--which I've assumed to be a vascular response, maybe better circulation?  I wonder if what we have is related.
