I was diagnosed with vitiligo on October 13th. The dermatologist gave me protopic which I began applying that day, and every day since, twice a day. I am taking 2000 mcg of B12, 1000 mcg of Folic Acid and 40 mcg of Gingko Biloba three times a day in addition to a prenatal multi vitamin (not prego or trying, that vitamin just packs more for the punch), citracel, and vitamin C.
I have just recently started putting on my protopic in the morning, covering the rest of my face in sunscreen and sitting out in the sun for five to ten minutes before the time of 11:00 am.
I have not changed my diet at all. I have always eaten quite clean and exercise 3-5 days for an hour to an hour and half each time. I do however eat meat (mostly chicken, turkey and fish), eggs, milk and I will often have a glass of wine with dinner. On weekend nights I might have a very nice margarita (if anyone needs a recipe, holla).
I have started back up doing bikram yoga a couple times a week in hopes of reducing stress. I think it’s helping, and it’s for sure helping my posture.
I have spent all 30 years of my life being humble about my looks. Whenever anyone compliments me I down play it, or point out whats wrong with me and make a joke of it. I have decided since it seems my looks are very temperamental to Fudge That and now I am dressing nicer, painting my nails regularly and agreeing emphatically when someone says I am in great shape. Cause I am, and I always will be no matter how spotted I am. In fact my new goal might be to have The Best Spotted Abs Ever.
Today I noticed a freckle in one of my white spots around my eyes! I was/am pretty excited. Go Team Freckle. I expect Team Freckle to now go forth and multiply. We’ve had some pretty serious pep talks today and I think Team Freckle is up for the job.
I have only been putting protopic on my face and chest spots. I have purposely NOT been putting protopic on my hands to see if I can get any pigment going through supplements/vitamins and some sun exposure.
I will keep everyone updated on my progress and the progress of Team Freckle.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go order a bright red lipstick to wear to the gym and over the knee boots to wear with skinny jeans when I grocery shop. On a Tuesday.

Kris, you really have a great attitude! I am about to try Protopic too for my arms and hands. They say that the face is easiest to get pigment back and the hands and feet are the hardest,
I have given up meat, wheat, all high tannin fruits, tea and chocolate, and alcohol, as well as supplementing like you are. Just trying to calm down my immune system or whatever is causing this problem. It is not easy, but it's interesting, and I have also lost a few pounds and sure feel good. All my skin looks and feels good, spots and patches included. I figure I will stay on this very serious diet along with the medical treatments and others for one year. I am also going to the Dead Sea in May. We'll see what happens.
The main thing is to be ourselves, spotted or no., One thing I've found with all this is that it's fun to teach people something new. You gotta admit we are unusual! let's capitalize in that!
