Hey guys has anyone heard of this? I happened to stumble across it last night online. Go online and google "Emily's vitiligo" it's a story of a young girl who got vitiligo and her dad was told by physicians that nothing could be done for her . Doctors told him even if he pursued treatments nothing could be done for Emily until she was at least 12 years old. He would not accept this and he went seeking for answers. He shares their story online in the form of a short book with LOTS of information for people with vitiligo that he accquired in his own search. It's really good information: please check it out and tell me what you think! I don't think it's a scam....this on-line book is free!!!! Emily eventually repigmented not completely but with good success he shares pictures. You can't really tell she has it anymore from the pics...
He even tells of a physician from Cuba who he found that wrote a book on vitiligo and he tells how we can get a copy (it costs)...I'm not sure if I'm going to get the book...I'm thinking about it! Please check it out!!! He shares what supplements they used, diet, etc. He also shares great books for us to become healthier that can be bought online via amazon or barnes and nobles!
I just wanted to share this information with you guys!!!!

Hi I drink Soya milk as it is so freely available in the supermarket and it has B12 added but I dont eat much other soya stuff ie Tofu (Yuk!) I eat loads of chickpeas (humous is my fav food) and add nuts and seeds to my diet. I also try to add wheatgrass powder to my daily juice drink but its pretty gross to be honest. Kelly I am intersted in why you are gluten free as well, did you take a gluten test?
Karen like you, cheese is hard for me to give up...oh and I know for sure I cant give up wine....life is too short to give up everything.
good luck on the diet and I am sure you will both feel so much better soon and hopefully over a long time it wil help wiht your repigmentation
I want to start the vegan diet also! Girl lets do it together! We can share recipes! I actually started today just doing veggies it's not so bad..but I ate my chesse on my veggie sub! I'm drinking almond milk in my cereal. I want to get the book that Dr. Montes wrote on vitiligo...so you don't think it's a scam? The books $50 dollars. He also gives a link from a physician that tells us how to become a vegan safely! They say just make all your favorite recipes without the meat and lots of veggies! I also want Emily's dad's recipes but the link isn't working!
Yes lets do it!! I should try that almond milk sounds good, I am using rice milk made by rice dream which is realllly good! I am already dairy free have been for 2years and am gluten free for 2 months now. I just need to take the extra step to be vegan. Do you know what type of information is in the Dr. Montes book? Being vegan safely is my main reason I am hesitating doing it. I just want to make sure I get enough protein and other nutrients I will be missing from meat. Where is the link from Emily's dad. Is it on the online book page?
In terms of protein what do you plan to eat? I know a lot of foods seem to have soy in them (such as veggie burgers etc). When I typed in soy online I read a few conflicting pages saying that soy is bad for you but maybe as long as it is not a large amount of soy it would be ok.
Yes, Eric (Emily's dad) included information from physicians here is the site www.pcrm.org you go to that site then at the bottom left hand corner scroll down is a picuture that says the vegetarian starter kit...if you go to that site there is a lot of info including being vegan and FAQ!!! This site makes it seem simple! Kelly it sounds like you are doing great already but, you have nothing to lose by taking another step to go vegan. I will catch up with you Kelly on being vegetarian then vegan...I'm working on getting rid of cheese right now!!! LOL I'm going to keep eating fish though because my homeopathic specialist said I need the high omega 3 that these regulate the immune system. Also Mayo clinic did a study that gingko is good for us I also take it...and protein lots of beans girl get creative!!!!!
Eric gives the names of many books...they all look great! I'm going to get some of them via amazon. I don't know what info is in Dr. Montes book but he specializes in vitiligo and it was helpful for Eric (I am wondering if it's still available b/c the date is 2009 on the webpage...I want to get it I will let you know if it's worth buying...Is there anyway to get ahold of Eric (Emily's dad) do you know? The site he said to contact him at has been deleted :( I would love to talk to him.....how did you know Kelly that Emily is in her twentites now?
talk soon ;)
