Hi! my name is Mariana, I am 22 years old and I am new to the site! Its awesome!
I was diagnosed with vitiligo two weeks ago, it first appeared on the back of my neck and my left underarm at the same time, two months ago.... my doctor prescribed me with Elocom cream (mometasone furoate), a corticosteroid cream and told me to use it for about three months. The spot on the my underarm has already started to fade a little bit, only with a week and a half of treatment, but the other patches seem to stay the same... I was wondering if any of you have used this cream (or a similar corticosteroid cream) before, and if you had good results??
thank you! :D I wish you all a nice weekend!

Hi Mariana !!!! I use Elomet 0.1%. This is more or less the same as what you use. I used it for small spots on my fingers, and it worked for me. And I still use it along with Protopic ointment for the big spots on my fingers.
At the end of 3 months, when you go back to your doctor, he will probably tell you to continue this same cream, after a break. Or may be he will tell you to try Protopic ointment. You can ask about it from your doctor.
May of us here take VITAMIN B12 1000 mcg + Folic Acid 800mcg a day. It might help with your vitiligo.
Good luck :) :) :)
very helpful-- I'll try the B12 and Folic Acid combination with my daughter. I've also heard about a new study showing that 60 mg ginko bilbaoa 2x per day has shown positive results for many. Has anyone tried this or read of this study?
Hi! thank you...I might try the Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid supplements, it seems to be very popular... However, I don't want to use them at the same time as the cream because then I won't be able to know what is working...lol! We'll see how it goes! I'll keep you posted!
thanks again! :D
Vitamin supplements are a necessity, not an option if you are hoping to stop vit in its track. Vitiligo, like all other autoimmune diseases, is thought to arise due to lour body's lack of ability to absorb nutrients properly from the food we eat.
While steroids will work wonders for your initial small spots, it will not prevent future spots from appearing. For that you need to get proper vitamins and antioxidants to help your body to get rid of free radicals and internal inflammation thought to be responsible for attacking melanin cells leading to vitiligo spots.
Good luck for your treatment :)
