I've heard that the Dead Sea in Israel has amazing salt, mud and sun and air that really seem to help people with vitiligo. They say that because of the unusually thck mineralized air and atmophere that you can lie out in the full sun for hours and get all the benefit of the best suns rays without any of the damaging rays.
There is one doctor who has formulated this pseudo-catalase cream she uses with her patients there, which is supposed to make the skin more receptive to treatment to get the melanin production going and to stop the bad things happening in the skin. Lo and behold, in 21 days, she says, over 50% of her people are re-pigmenting plus having a great vacation swimming in the Dead Sea! She also writes well respected articles in scientific journals about this.
Have any of you heard about this? Better yet, have any of you had this treatment at the Dead Sea or know anybody who has? I am thinking of going there this May to see if I can nip this thing in the bud.
I'd love to hear from you if you know more about this or especially have had personal experience.

I live in israel and i also heard about this treatment,i'll probably start it this summer.
but oh boy,its hot as hell there in the summer.and the water hurts if you have bruises:\
I spent 3 weeks bathing in the Dead Sea on the Jordan side in August. While there I also had a consultation with Dr. Bisharat, who is the regional dermatologist who has specialized in Dead Sea treatment. Repigmentation started slowly after a couple of weeks there, but accelerated after my return, as Dr Bisharat had predicted. I also brought back some of the water from the sea, whiich I leave on my skin for about 15 mins. daily, and am continuing with UVB treatment. Progress is slow, but the freckles are multiplying steadily, and I am determined to see this through, even if I have to go again.
I have had vitiligo for about 13 years, and this year saw a rapid spread on my neck, chest legs and arms which was very distressing. However each dark freckle on a white patch is a victory to celebrate, so I stay positive most of the time. If anyone needs more information, I can provide all the details of my trip.

Thanks for this good info on the Dead Sea. Is it the water, mud or air that helps, or all of it combined?
I am planning to go there this summer but I can only spend about five days.
