My son, 7 years old, has vitiligo. I spent countless hours on another website for people with vit. and assembled a lot of information based upon there posts and findings, various treatments and herbs that worked for them, foods that seemed to trigger there vit, etc. etc.. The one common thing that I found is that almost all had many allergies, digestive trouble, and problems with yeast(yeast infections, thrush, warts, canker sores, etc.). I took what I learned and had my son checked for any connection. Here's what I found: he was diagnosed with celiac disease(gluten intolerant), leaky gut(similar to celiac), over 200 allergies. Then I took this one step further and tried to figure out what caused the leaky gut. Candida overgrowth, an overgrowth of the bad bacteria in your digestive system(small intestine usually). This can stem from many things, in his case, I believe he inherited an overgrowth, and then when he was 3 he came down with rota virus, a virus that attacks the small intestines, because of that he was put on large doses of antibiotics to attack the virus. Antibiotics kill off the good bacteria, leaving the bad to grow. After putting this together I knew that he was going to be deficient in some vitamins and minerals and paid a visit to his Dr., who really thought I was crazy :) , but, the tests confirmed that he was very low in Iron and Copper and he was very high in B vitamins. Now, after studying candida, you will find that a high percentage of people affected will be low in Iron and high in B vitamins. B vitamins are created by bacteria in your intestines. I then found that two highly regarded research hospitals in the US have linked Candida to Vitiligo(St. Judes and Johns Hopkins). They call it Chronic Muccotaneous Candidais. We have begun an intense regimen to attack the overgrowth, currently supplementing with grape fruit seed extract as well as Iron and Copper. We are also taking a digestive enzyme and a gastro calm enzyme( with catalse). When you have this condition your digestive enzymes are being robbed by the overgrowth therefore causing troubles throughout your body. I challenge all of you to research this and to share your thoughts and conditions that may link this to vitiligo. There is a ton of info that I will share later that supports this theory.

Thanks for the theories
Please read my reply above to Alicia. I really believe if you can eliminate your candida overgrowth and avoid allergies, your Vit will stop progressing and maybe repigment some. But, the best way to do that is to eliminate the allergies. I can't tell you enough how important that is. The only way you can do that is to make a visit to one of the various energy based practitioners, Bioset, JMT, NAET, or Bodytalk. They can eliminate your allergies, it's amazing. That way your body wont have to be constantly battling allergies and can heal itself. Look into it, it can't hurt. Also, one of the best things you can take for candida elimination is grapefruit seed extract. Thanks Myriah!

Thanks, yes I'm working really hard to eliminate allergies and yeast from my system. I'm actually undergoing NAET treatment right now, Today will be my 3rd session, and I'm happy to report I am seeing changes, they are small and slow, but with as many allergies as I have it's expected. I'm just excited that there is something out there that's working towards eliminating the cause and not just masking the symptoms. I'll have to see if I can find some grapefruit seed extract locally. :D
I think that once my body can be cleared of other issues maybe it will finally address my vitiligo, right now I think it's the least of my bodies priorities with allergies constantly flaring up. We'll see.
