I have always had rather light skin and am a fanatic about getting too much sun. How ironic, since there is evidence that it may be triggered by a severe sunburn. Additionally, I am 57 years old, unlike so many of the people who get it before they are 20. I did just find out that my father has it, as well. But he's still alive at 83, so clearly, it is not life threatening. I am a middle school teacher anxiously trying to retire at 60. The last 30 years have FLOWN BY, so I can't afford to let that happen again! Life is SHORT!
