About Me:

I am 22 years old and i had vitiligo since i was 3 years old. I hate vitiligo. It kept me from doing the things that i wanted to do in life. I wanted to be in athletics when i was in high school but i couldnt cz i was embarresed how others would react. Now that i finished high school i also wanted to serve my country by joining the armed forces but couldnt. cz of my skin i hate this. Why did i have to have this condition. The truth is that neither does my dad have it nor my mom. now body even in the family.

  • Hello Bobby, Welcome to the site! Thank you for the friend request.
I have had vitiligo since the age of 9, and like you I am the only one in my family that has it..... None of my brothers or sisters have it..... No one on either of my parents' side has it, Just me.... Are you under any treatment for your vitiligo? .......Don't be emarrassed about your skin condition and don't let that stop you form doing whatever it is that you want to do in life. You are not handicapped or have cancer, your skin is just loosing it's pigment......Think about the people that are in wheelchairs and they still participate in some kind of sport, and they do very well. You should go ahead and participate in athletics, you are still young and can still get around on your own. Don't let your vitiligo stop you from doing things especially the ones that you like.
