Hi there,
I have an appointment on the 26th of Janurary 09 . I have never seen dermatologist about my vitiligo so I was wondering what do I need to ask them and what is going to happend? This is an NHS (government) funded service so I would need to know the treatment I can ask for. Any toughts on the subject?
You need to be a member of Vitiligo Friends to add comments!
you can ask what treatment options they have available for you. i'd also ask what sort of experience your derm has with vit and treating it.
i wanted to be aggressive, so my dermo put me on an immunosuppressor topical cream (elidel) and i commenced phototherapy (UVB) three times a week (i'm going for my 6th treatment some time today).
how long have you had vitiligo...sometimes treatments can vary depending on the amount of time vitiligo has been present.
the dermatologist might look at your skin under a woods lamp (it's kindof like a purple light, where the vitiligo areas will glow) to see all of the vitiligo- even the new patches that may not be visible yet.
take along your list of questions and bring paper and pen so you can write down the answers...sometimes when we are hearing medical information, it is hard to wrap our head around it at the time, but looking at it later, it will seem clearer.
let us know how the visit goes
